Osney Single Studio only for one adult

The hotel was a short walk from the train station, making it fairly suitable for my needs.

Someone opened the lock box in the night, which I know as I scramble codes after using them, and check the codes are scrambled before I sleep. The code was input over night while I slept. This leaves me feeling very uneasy about the property.

Not clean, many bed bugs! I had to find another place at midnight. Money wasted.

Upon check-in, I immediately noticed bedbugs of all sizes crawling on the walls. I contacted both Booking.com and the owner right away. The owner moved me to an upgraded studio for two nights, promising to resolve the issue. However, when I was moved back to my original studio, the situation was even worse. I discovered a massive bedbug nest inside the bed frame. Large, fat insects were crawling all over the bedsheets. Even though I spent only 30 minutes in that room, I was bitten multiple times, and the bugs managed to get into my clothing. It was Christmas Eve, and when I reached out for help, the owner simply said there was nothing they could do. Booking.com remained silent (later telling me to deal with the host directly). I had no choice but to leave the infested property late at night, ending up on the street during the holiday to find new accommodation on my own. I had pre-paid for 9 nights. Despite the owner's promise to issue a refund, I have received zero compensation. This place is a health hazard and the management is unreliable.

The location was great, an easy walk to the train station, and only a little further to the bus station. The room was basic but sufficient. Able to check in easily, and also to leave my luggage after I’d checked out. I didn’t want to go back into town for an evening meal, and there was a good supermarket (Waitrose) about 10 minutes walk away, could heat food in the microwave and store leftovers in the fridge.

The soundproofing…though it was mostly the individual in the room next to mine (for 2 of the 3 nights) who selfishly kept the TV at a loud level, even after I had knocked on the door (as late as 12:15 am) on the first night, and after I sent an e-mail to the owner in the second and she let me know she’d sent him a text, all the dialog in the program he was watching was audible. My room was at the top of the stairs, so everyone else on the floor passed by, not alway quietly, especially with luggage. Having to use a bathroom downstairs wasn’t ideal, and it certainly was basic and small! Having a hook to hang things would be good, and also having the blind on the window cover it completely…. It was feasible, though awkward, to wash the dishes in the very small sink; I had to carry a glass and a cup of water up and down to fill the kettle, which was too big to fit under the tap.
