The Lighthouse Retreat, Little Corn island, Nicaragua

Very quite and calm place. Hammocks in front of ever cabaña and in general all around the place. All the food prepared by Stephanie was amazing and very delicious. It takes around 10-15min walking there from the port, but everything is really close on the island.

Our stay at The Lighthouse Hotel and Spa was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality with two fresh coconut water; owners two amazing sisters from Toronto who made sure every detail of our trip was perfect. Their attention to detail in planning all our meals and excursions took all the stress off our shoulders. We didn’t have to worry about finding a good captain for our snorkeling and fishing trips—they only work with experienced, trusted captains who know the best spots on the island. We even got dropped off at one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, which was just a short walk back to the hotel. It was pure paradise! The food at the hotel was a highlight of our trip. Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and full of healthy options, including vegan choices made fresh to order. Stephanie, the cook, is phenomenal—she clearly takes pride in her cooking and only uses the freshest ingredients. You could taste the love and care she puts into every meal! The hotel is located just 10 minutes up the hill from the dock, far enough from the noisy town but still close enough for a quick walk if you want to explore. The peacefulness make it the perfect retreat for anyone looking to recharge in a serene, natural setting. One thing that really stood out was how organized everything was. The owners helped us plan every detail, which made our stay so much more enjoyable. We felt completely safe and taken care of, and it was such a relief to have everything arranged for us—from meals to excursions—without any hassle. The hotel itself is a peaceful oasis. It’s private, quiet, and ideal for people who love healthy living, walking for a bit of exercise, and just being surrounded by nature. Ignore the negative reviews! They’re irrelevant to what this hotel truly offers. If you come with an open mind and aren’t nitpicky about rules, you’ll find that this place is organized, relaxing, and a little slice of paradise.

The bungalows and grounds at Lighthouse Hotel were very cute. We liked the hammocks that were all over the property and especially enjoyed hanging out in the restaurant area. It was a nice space to chat with other guests and hang out. The rooms were cleaned every day and were very tidy. Stephanie was a friendly host - we enjoyed chatting with her and had tasty meals that she prepared!

We weren’t expecting the walk to the hotel. It’s about 15 minutes from town, but mostly uphill, which was challenging in the heat with our bags. We had trouble sleeping, as the room was very hot, there were no mosquito nets, and the bed was very firm. The bathroom only had hand soap, no shampoo or conditioner. The grounds were beautiful but the spa and yoga studio were closed as there was no teacher. This should be updated on the Booking.com listing. Although the location is central on the island, we could’ve used some directions on how to get to around or a map. There is bottled water on site, but it is about $4USD/bottle which we thought was overpriced, especially since there is a 15-minute walk into town.

I had a wonderful time at Lighthouse Hotel. Stephanie and the local staff were wonderful. The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options every day—I recommend Stephanie's breakfast burrito. The hotel is very peaceful, perfect for adults who want a quiet getaway. Despite the owners traveling, everything was well-managed, and the local staff ensured everything ran smoothly. Their dedication to maintaining high standards is evident, and their proactive approach ensures a wonderful guest experience. I even got to enjoy some fresh fish and lobster cooked by Stephanie! We enjoyed a fantastic massage with Keysha at the spa. The hotel also assisted in planning an island tour, where we got to explore all the beaches and watched a beautiful sunset. The hotel is perfectly located in the center of the island, close enough to the village but far enough from the noise, so we had the best sleep. It’s also close to the best beach on the island, Otto Beach. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I highly recommend this place for a relaxing vacation. We can't wait to return to the Lighthouse.

Best place to stay on Little Corn Island. We were picked up from big corn in a taxi, and he took us for a quick tour of Big Corn Island, which was really nice and then to the dock to get on a boat to little corn, we were then picked up on the dock by the hotel staff and they carried our luggage all the way up to the hotel. We received a free upgrade and welcome drink as soon as we arrived. The Canadian owners are AMAZING, and you can see their efforts in decorating the cabin with everything you need and making sure you have the best experience on the island. The local staff are so friendly and helpful, especially Stephanie, who makes the best breakfast burrito. The food was the best on the island, I recommend the curry and vegan falafel wrap. They also get fresh fish and lobster daily, and we tried the Ron Don, which was the most delicious meal I had in nicaragua. The cabin is so clean and also cleaned daily. The bed was comfortable, and the cabin had a small seating area and a small desk facing the ocean. They have a lot of hammocks and offered yoga mat to use on the yoga deck. The hotel is adults only, peaceful and quiet, and we had the best sleep. We can't wait to come back again with our group of friends. I strongly recommend this gorgeous property.

Stephanie the local staff was very kind and helpful.

The property incorrectly advertised the rooms in booking. We booked the largest room by square meter but then received the smallest room. When we inquired about his with the owner of the hotel we were very rudely told that a change would not be possible even though we were the only people in the hotel! Also there is no view of the ocean. When it came to payment the owner constantly asked for my ccv code of my credit card and instructed the local staff to not let us leave until we gave it to them. In the end we had to pay in cash as this was the only way to not provide my full credit card details. In the room there is no mosquito net which is quite important as there are loads of mosquitoes. We also had a few cockroaches visiting us over the days even though we had no food in the room. Finally the breakfast, on the first day we were inly able to have pancakes as the hotel did not have anything else, however there was also no syrup with the pancakes… the next day at least there were two options available instead of only one - not great! The hotel/hostel is clearly under awful management. The two sisters sit in Toronto and could not care less what is going on in their hotel/hostel. Very disappointing

It gets very hot in the bungalows and there is no electricity from 6am to 1pm - in that time not even the fan works and you have to leave the bungalow. WiFi is very bad and unstable.

Stephanie’s breakfasts were amazing. Recommend the French toast and Breakfast Burrito! India the volunteer was really helpful- arranging snorkelling through the hotel and giving island tips. Really nice cool breeze which is welcomed and well located for the best spots: Otto beach, Derek’s place and the village. Calm, peaceful and beautiful views. This is one of the best places to stay on the island.

We were told breakfast wasn’t included on our checkout day-whilst we got this sorted it’s worth watching out for. You should get breakfast for every night you stay if you’ve paid for it.
