Quite lovely room and clean welcoming

Bed too small for us no meals available however was only just taken over by new owners

I paid £64 through booking .com for the downe arms hotel wykeham on friday the 17th . But when i got there it was closed down! !!! I had to drive to scarborough to book and pay for another hotel to stay the night! Shocking i paid and wasnt informed the hotel i paid for was shut down.

As i said a above , booking.Com charged me £64 for a friday night on the 17oct for the downe arms hotel in wykeham. But when i got there in the evening it was closed and had been shut down.! Due to changed ownership which i wasnt informed till the next day! I had to drive to scarborough to rebook and pay again for another hotel at last minutw! Very shockng

Comfortable bed and powerful hot shower. Tea and coffee and fridge facilities. Lovely and clean.

The pub area was closed due to the previous owners not telling the very hospitable new owners that several guests were booked in a few hours after they handed over the keys This was beyond the control of the new owners who did their very best to make us welcome.

Staff

Nothing. We went home!

In darkness. One door open to a pool table with one key that wasn’t for our room. No staff. Wondered around found attic room (eventually). No lock to secure the room if you wanted to leave your belongings. Poorly fitted carpet to steep steps with no handrail or fire door. Mud on the upstairs carpet. Icy cold, no heating. Condensation running down mouldy windows & sills. Windows covered in Ivy. Broken bed with duvet but no cover, damp & wet. Filthy kitchen, 2 x cups in sink half empty with brown water in. Filthy sink board. Air fryer & sandwich toaster covered in filth. Wouldn’t even touch the kettle. Bathroom smelt dirty & there was wee in the toilet. No tea, coffee etc. No WiFi, no broadband as the owners hadn’t paid the bill. Couldn’t get a phone signal. Couldn’t contact the owner. Booking.com sham! £290 for 2 nights, absolute theft! We didn’t stay, we left. Hard to get hold of booking.com after 2 weeks finally had a reply that, “they will look in to it”. I want a REFUND

All facilities are closed. We arrived after a lovely walk to no heating/ no tv/ and no WiFi and a half opened tea bag in the room! No coffee/no tea etc Because of the area (which would have been fine) but no WiFi we were unable to get in contact with the host/ they did not want to answer or deal with the Issues above. The host had left their number at “self check in” and we tried to contact many times through different ways (drove to get signal to call) still no reply. We had to leave the property that evening due to these issues not being dealt with. I could add more about this, but I am dealing with it through customer service. Don’t waste your money! Very disappointing.

We finally get a few nights off n book 2 nights at what looks like a lovely pub in North Yorkshire for walks food n beer . We arrive it’s in darkness closed no one there . Someone says it’s been closed for months try the back . We go in find our name n key in a book . 3 other keys no other names . We’re in a closed pub no phone reception , open back door . Try the wi fi not working . Open the room 3 months of dust on the headboard . Try to contact someone using wi fi from the local coop no answer . Find them on Facebook they are closed handing over to new owners in a week still charging people to stay in a closed building . We’re home couldn’t do night 2 in the Down n out arms
