Great location, lovely room, everything you needed and the lovely breakfast was a real bonus. Great to see the effort made to reduce carbon footprint too

There’s nothing you can do dislike

Great location and sea view, but lots of stairs Excellent central location right in front of the sea with a beautiful view. The room was clean, bright, and felt quite new, with all essentials provided (iron, hairdryer, towels). Access can be a bit challenging — you either take stairs from the seafront or a longer, steep road. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the lift was out of order (we were informed in advance), so be prepared for quite a few stairs. Breakfast is basic but convenient, with milk, yogurt, juice, coffee, and cereals available on each floor. Overall, a very good stay — just keep the stairs in mind when booking.

The lift was out of order, so getting to the 3rd floor involved quite a lot of stairs, especially with the steep access to the building. The owner did inform us about this 4 days before arrival, which we appreciated, but it can still be quite tiring and is something to consider when booking.

The bed and pillows were comfy. Room was clean and presentable.

The lift was out of order upon arrival. I had booked a 3rd floor room (6flights of stairs) for the sea view. But with a significant arthritic hip, was relying on the lift functioning as pivotal to my whole stay. This coloured my whole stay as my movements to and from room to explore Whitby were now dictated by how many stair climbs to my room I could manage in a single day. (2 at the most- one of which would have to be going out for tea somewhere) I wasn’t made aware of the lift situation prior to arriving. In addition to the huge inconvenience of the lift, there was no hot water from the kitchen tap (had to wash pots in bathroom), the bathroom tap took a long time of running the water til got hot, the shower unit flooded as draining wasn’t efficient, the toilet was wobbly on its base. It may be worth reducing the number of air freshener packs you use in the stairwells and landing areas as it was overwhelming and suffocating (especially breathing whilst traversing 6flights of stairs). I would like to know what the negotiations are for a refund/partial refund due to my painful and negative experience of staying at this property?

The location was excellent, the room was very clean and I had a view of the beach / sea. Bed was comfortable and there were plenty of chairs. Breakfast was self service but easy and convenient.

One of the window blinds appeared to be broken, so I had a few issues with privacy / room being too bright at night (not too much of an issue for me).

Love the location and views. We’ve stayed here loads in different rooms/(apartment when we take the dog). It’s always good. Absolutely spotless clean, great idea for continental style brekky. Tea and coffee facilities great. Also great idea having a fridge in the room. Easy check in and out and great hosts who answer almost immediately. We stayed in commondale room is fab, we stayed in it 9 years ago and it’s even better since refurbished.

Lovely apartment overlooking the sea. Couldn’t have asked for a better view. Would have liked a room with a balcony….. Loved all the little extras, tea towel, washing up liquid, milk, breakfast option etc, wouldn’t have thought to bring with us Perfect location .

Mattress on the bed was far too soft, kept rolling into each other everytime one or the other moved
