looked a good deal on the Booking.Com website

The accommodation cancelled the booking the day before we were due to travel. Despite several assurances of alternative accommodation being offered within 45 minutes by Customer services at Booking.com, there was no offer received until 17 hours after the original call to Booking.Com, on the morning of our departure. The alternative accommodation offered was a significant distance from our original booking, and therefore not suitable. I did receive a refund propmtly from Booking.Com, but was left to find my own suitable replacement accommodation (not on Booking.Com). This was a considerably stressful experience, which the reassuring promises of Booking.Com Customer services did not result in a satisfactory resolution to the problem.

The road to get there from the M6 was a bit tricky to navigate in the dark! It was also a slight pity that there don't seem to be many access routes across the golf course for non-players - some walks would be nice.

Vert friendly staff, so accommodating Delicious food. Outlook beautiful. Quiet, clean area too .

Building is fake medieval castle outside, fake gothic C19th part of Oxbridge college inside --- I really like that stuff. Surrounding golf course attractive with mature trees. Breakfast well above usual hotel quality: decent sausages, includes black pudding. Staff cheerful and relaxed. Room spacious and comfortable. WiFi works and doesn't keep forcing you to reconnect manually.

I can't comment on dinner because kitchen closed early. Room (#4) had no television; I really don't care because the WiFi was good enough. Breakfast is 8:00--10:00 ; beware if you need an early start. I have no memory of a lift; maybe avoid if you cannot walk up stairs.

The staff were all freindly and helpful. The building looks lovely from the outside set in trees and a golf course. Ten minute taxi to town cente.

The bedroom we were given can only be described as a storeroom. Very small with a bed tucked against the wall. Half a window to the side of an added toilet/ shower closet smaller than the unit in my caravan. I decided i would continue driving to my destination another 4 hrs rather than stay there and loose my money. I asked for and was given a different room. It was spacious with views of the woodlands, however there was a large patch of damp ceiling with what appeared mould on the ceiling. There was Scaffolding on the outdide of the building. I know its an old building but i was not happy with this hotel. The building is used as lancaster golf club. For that it is suitable. Not as a hotel for me. I will say every member of staff was really very freindly.
