Ashton Hall at Lancaster Golf Club

Fabulous building with really friendly staff. Superb breakfast overlooking the 18th green.

Shower power was a bit of a let down.

The venue was not easy to find - there isn't any signage that the golf club is also the hotel. The staff were lovely, but the room was very cold, there were quite a few cobwebs, the bathroom had a saniflo system that went off in the night and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. They also hadn't got the message about my dietary requirements for breakfast - which they dealt with amazingly but meant that I was late leaving the hotel in the morning. Great location and lovely people, but could be a bit more 'on the ball' with regards to overnight guests. They also don't serve food after 5pm so the 'restaurant' listed on the site isn't viable for evening meals.

Toilet paper in the bathroom, removal of cobwebs, a heater which worked, better signage to the hotel, evening meals served as on the website and reading information about guests' dietary requirements for breakfast.

Location was perfect for us as an overnight stop on our journey from Bristol to Glasgow. Such a peaceful and beautiful area. The Hall is a lovely old building. The dining room overlooked the golf course and is stunning and breakfast was delicious.

Rooms are a bit basic and dated but served our needs for the night. We arrived in the dark and struggled a bit to find the way in. In the end we rang the number on the invoice and George came to let us in as there is no reception area. He was friendly, polite and helpful.

Its uniqueness

Showers were a bit dated and old, window is one of the rooms was cracked, some cobwebs on the light fittings . Would’ve enjoyed a croissant / pastries with breakfast to go with the butter and jams.

The location was away from the city so was lovely and quiet, and when you first see the hall it looks like something from a well known tv programme. The staff are amazing and see to your every need and so very polite. The young girl who greeted us made sure we were comfortable and even offered to fetch our bags from the car. Only stayed one night as a it was halfway to our Scottish destination. Breakfast was included in the extremely reasonable price and the room and bathroom were enormous. Beautiful place to stay

There was no curtain or blind on the bathroom window but we weren’t overlooking any other rooms so wasn’t a big issue

Staff are excellent and can't do enough for you. They served food this time, and all the food was amazing. Best value for money of anywhere I've stayed. Ever.

Curtains were broken in my room. But did not impact my comfort on the room in reality. I have no doubt if I had said something they would.have sorted it out.

The building and downstairs were lovely. New chef was excellent. Bar man was very attentive, helpful and friendly. Food and drink reasonably priced.

Shower not very powerful. Room was clean, bed comfy but they do need refreshing.

Beautiful historic building. Attentive staff and a delicious breakfast

The location was great, I took my granddaughter of 9 years and it was very exciting to sleep in a castle. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. A great place to stay.
