Coconut Cottage - Hiriketiya Beach

We loved our stay at Coconut Cottage. Andy was really helpful. The place was clean, stylish and comfortable. It was exactly what we needed after weeks in hostels. Would highly recommend.

Perfect for people looking for accommodation that is clean and comfortable in a great location with an authentic Sri Lankan flair. The plunge pool in the private backyard is a real bonus offering relief from the sweltering heat. The monkeys are very entertaining but will steal anything. We got to know our neighbours through returning shoes dropped over our side of the fence. Andy was very helpful and organised airport transfers.

Nothing, but I would have liked use of a toaster and a clothes horse for drying swimwear etc.

We came low season but sunshine every day, it was perfect holiday. We liked the cottage a lot. It’s so close to everything, has great AC and beds.

Our family had a great time at the cottage. The kids loved the garden and small pool. Lots of places to eat nearby. Everywhere in Hiri can be walked to from the cottage, it’s in a great location.

A cute villa that is really close to Hiriketiya and Dickwella beaches. We loved it there and didn’t want to leave. Andy the host is also really helpful.

The Cottage was so Homely and was perfect for our family. So clean and every little thing was thought of. Love the plunge pool. Will be our stay in the future when we go to Hiriketiya. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Second time we’ve stayed here. The house has everything you need and really comfortable beds. It’s literally less than 2 minutes to the beach and has a cute garden. Andy the host is really helpful if you need anything.

Location space of bedroom

The termite dust that fell on the bedsheets constantly. Not good for sleeping Sheets are always dirty.Shower is walk in alright -walk right out the back door to a semi enclosed shower and the back door can’t shut while you shower so mosquitoes move in but there is no mosquito protection offered as in bed nets or spray Also the back door is cut horizontally in half and leaves a 3/4” gap for mosquitoes to continue coming in. No hand towel offered for bathroom. No umbrellas available. Bedroom plug outlet didn’t work. Roof leaked. Ceilings have discoloration and signs of mold in bathroom Bathroom is narrow cubby off kitchen the width of the toilet. Mirror is old and delaminating in the back causing the black marks in front, sloppy bathroom sink install. Nothing boutique about this place except the price. No extra towel to dry feet after washing before entering home. Couch is uncomfortable to just sit on but makes a great extra bed.

It's outstanding to have your own little cottage in the heart of Hiri and Andy is an amazingly helpful host. Coconut Cottage has everything you need: two bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, living room and dining room, a lovely (outdoor) modern shower, and a great plunge pool area (when its not overtaken by squirrels or monkeys!). And all a couple of minutes walk from beautiful Hiri beach.

Nothing not to like about Coconut Cottage. Hiri itself is stunning, but has definitely become more touristed. And the prices in restaurants/cafes really reflect that compared to other areas of Sri Lanka. That said, Coconut Cottage itself is a bargain for the level of accommodation you get.
