The Lobster Pot Cottage Church Bay

Great location in a small village. The restaurant attached is lovely too. The owners were very friendly, chatty and gave good recommendations of things to do. The cottage was comfortable and clean and came with everything needed for a couple of nights stay. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms were small but cosy.

I loved the location, lovely little gem 👌 right by the beach ⛱️ amazing views, and coastal walks. Also, the place was very clean and tidy and well equipped with everything you need for a for several days away.. really nice, friendly people who run the place

It is tired and very dated, the floor from the kitchen to bathroom felt unsafe, it’s very drafty with big gaps under all doors, stained carpets, poor quality bedding. Just generally needs a complete refresh.

Beautiful location and competitive price during high season. Host extremely responsive when I messaged back and forth over text regarding multiple queries.

I want to preface this review by saying I’m a massive supporter of small businesses and am so British it cripples me internally to complain about anything. When we booked the accommodation we knew for such a competitive price, during high season, in such a beautiful location the facilities would be basic and honestly we didn’t need anything fancy. We visited with our 4 month old baby so just needed facilities where we could feed/wash/change her. That being said, I do believe when you stay at a rental property, no matter the price, it should be clean and secure. Sadly, the property didn’t meet these expectations. Perhaps best demonstrated by the soles of my partners feet after walking on the floor barefoot. Security wise, the lock on the kitchen window being broken or the lock on the front door being stiff and the total lack of any curtain on the large, unfrosted bathroom window that backs onto a campsite and car park is also less than ideal, particularly when staying with a young baby. Thankfully we’d bought our own towels because the ones provided at the property were honestly not something I’d be happy drying myself or my little one with and honestly the bed linens weren’t much better. We’d had a text pushing our check in back because the guests before us had been late to leave and the hosts were struggling to get the apartment turned over while running the restaurant downstairs. Knowing this and seeing what was provided I wouldn’t be shocked if they hadn’t been changed from our predecessor’s. With a deep clean and a bit of TLC to replace some of the broken furniture this property has the potential to be absolutely beautiful. Church Bay is stunning and the restaurant downstairs has some of the best seafood I have ever tasted. Hopefully our experience is just a one off due to the demands of a chaotic high season.
