Jonny and his family are amazing. They welcomed me as a family member. I did the waterfalls-monkey forest and rice fields tour: it was lovely. Also the local market and the bamboo factory were pretty cool. I was supposed to stay 2 nights, I stayed 3. It’s such a quiet and relaxing place in the middle of the rice fields in Tetebatu with a great view on Mount Rinjani. The food is also amazing!!!! You will not have hot water, but be ready to receive all the love you need!

"Jonny is the master! 10/10"

10.0

Amazing accommodation with gorgeous views. Jonny and his crew are super friendly and kind. I had a great time during my stay. The room was nice, with a comfy bed and firm pillow. No A/C but the room stayed nice and cool. The food was super delicious and well priced. There was a laundry service and a well equipped small bathroom. I did the full day tour with Jonny for 200k IDR which was great and very informative. I highly recommend stopping in here, just bring earplugs for your sleep ✌️

The sleeps were a bit rough due to so many mosques surrounding the place and a bunch of cheeky critters running across the iron roof. Jonny is aware and plans on fixing this as soon as possible!

"Warm welcome"

9.0

My friend and I had an amazing time here! The family welcomed us with open arms and we loved to be in nature.

There is a lot of noise that will wake you up early in the morning, but because there is nothing to do in the evening we slept in early so we didn’t mind.

"What a fantastic place!"

10.0

Jonny's Place was one of our favorite stays during our 1 month voyage through Indonesia. Jonny and his family made us feel like part of the family. The food was delicious. The bamboo cabin had a comfortable bed and a view over the rice fields and Mount Ringani that was worth a million dollars. Jonny took us all over the village and introduced us to his family members, which gave us a glimpse into local life. He showed us hidden waterfalls and arranged a motorcycle ride into nearby villages. Jonny amazed us with his good sense of humor, his Intelligence, and his beautiful singing voice. His self composed song about Mount Ringani almost brought us to tears. I recommend anyone who reads this message to book at least 3 nights to get the full experience. Jonny's Places deserves a 20 out of 10 :).

"Wonderful time with Jonny and his family: a great human experience and a soothing stay"

10.0

I stayed 2 nights at Jonny's location. Jonny's homestay is located right in the middle of the rice fields, with no direct neighbors and is easily accessible from the road via a small path. The room offers a magnificent view of the rice fields and Mount Rinjani, and you'll love taking the time to lose yourself in the landscape from your room's balcony (which includes a table and bench). Jonny is an experienced guide as well as an excellent host, and will be happy to show you around the region, taking you through the rice fields, exploring the nearby waterfalls and the Tetebatu monkey forest and discovering the local culture and crafts in the surrounding villages. A magnificent cultural and human journey. While Jonny's wife (who's also a guide) will serve you Lombok's finest cuisine, Jonny will offer you perfect company, whether you want a little privacy or enjoy chatting with him about anything and everything, singing or playing guitar over a glass of local rice wine. He'll always be happy to make you feel at home, just like his family who live downstairs. As your guide, Jonny can also help you organize the steps before and after your stay with him (tour, activities, driver). My stay with Jonny was the best experience of my trip in Bali+Lombok and I would love to go back.

You'll need to go down to the ground floor to access the bathroom: there's no hot water, but that's not a problem given the local temperatures ;) Don't forget to bring earplugs: the local wildlife can be a bit noisy after dark, and the calls to prayer from the nearby mosques can wake you up in the early hours (but you'll fall back asleep very quickly).

"Stunning location and food but felt unwelcome in a strangers home"

2.0

The location of Jonny’s place is stunning, nestled amongst the rice fields of Tetebatu and (if you’re lucky enough) a view of the beautiful Rinjani. The sound of nature and Jonny’s family living their day to day life is truely beautiful. The room is comfortable with a fan and mosquito net with a firm but still pleasant bed. We chose to eat here and were glad we did, as it was incredibly tasty & the portion sizes were very generous (some of the best meals we’ve eaten in Indo). The children were very cute also!

Unfortunately, we got off on the wrong foot with Jonny after having difficulty finding his place. The address shown on Booking wasn’t accurate so we asked for help. Maybe it was due to a language barrier but he made us feel like we had inconvenienced him by not being able to find him. Eventually he met us nearby & showed us the way. (Note: if coming by bike you literally drive on a dirt track through the rice field and there is no signage). Shortly later he offered his tour service. We politely declined. Our answer didn’t feel well received and we felt like he distanced himself from us because of this. After returning from a walk, we expressed interest in doing a tour with him the next morning but decided against it on the day, as I felt unwell and had a long journey to have to make on the bike. Jonny’s attitude towards me was passive aggressive after this. It was such a shame as we were really looking forward to our stay here. We were also never told the WIFI and Jonny wasn’t around in the evening for us to ask (we did ask his friend but he didn’t have it either). So overall we didn’t feel welcome at all and felt uncomfortably awkward being left alone in a strangers home. EDIT: After posting my original review of 5/10, Jonny sent me rude messages because he thought my review was “Bad”. Instead of taking on the criticism he thought it would be appropriate to be abusive, so I have updated my score to reflect this. Also, Jonny could’ve communicated to us that he had to visit family in hospital and we would’ve been more than understanding (literally were only made aware of this from his response to my review). But to disappear without so much as a message, or even explanation the next morning isn’t polite.
