"Idyllic!"

10.0

Beautiful traditional-style bamboo building set in the rice fields, the balcony is the perfect spot to relax and drink in the views with cool breezes, or watch the sunrise. Great breakfast included, and you can sample the home-grown coffee. Large bedrooms and bathroom. very clean. Jonny and his family are super hospitable and give walking tours through to fields to visit local farms where you can see coconut milk processing and many fruits and crops growing.

No issues - the mosque wakes you quite early, but that adds to the atmosphere!

"Amazing local experience with Jonny’s family in the middle of the rice paddies"

10.0

The Homestay is beautifully located in the middle of rice fields, with a great view on Mount Rinjani. The home-cooked food that they also taught us how to make was super delicious - and we felt really welcomed to the family, hung out with Jonny and his friends on the porch, got to know his family, and learnt a lot about life in the village of Tete Batu. Jonny organised us a great tour with Jalal who was so knowledgeable, witty and entertaining that we really had a deep dive into Sasak culture and the beautiful local nature - saw a family of black monkeys too. Amazing experience. The bed and pillows are a bit hard as is typical for the region but for us it was ok. Totally recommend staying at Jonny’s and thus supporting him and his entire family.

The admittedly very simple bathroom without hot water is not en-suite but you have to go down one floor which might be cumbersome for some travellers, for us it was totally ok - and it was super clean. That’s what minus 1 point for comfort. The many muezzins surely wake you up at like 4am but we fell asleep immediately again. It would be great if there were a hammock that would make chilling on the porch even greater.

Would highly recommend Jonny’s house! Jonny is lovely and helps organise amazing local tours with him and his company. Hanging out with everyone in the little town was one of the highlights of our trips. They were all so lovely, playing the guitar and showing us all the local fruits and snacks. And can’t forget the amazing view from the property over the rice fields with Mt Rinjani in the background!

"Jonny and extended family were super welcoming, perfect place to chill and watch daily village life."

10.0

Perfect views of rice fields and Mt. Rinjani in the background. Home cooked Sasak/Indo meals were freshly made, big portions and delicious. Rice wine was tasty. Tours I did was good and informative. Jonny speaks good English. Large simple, tastefully decorated room with plenty of space with outdoor balcony built from traditional bamboo. Jonny plays the guitar

"Makasi Kumpel!"

10.0

It is located in the middle of beautiful rice fields. You have a beautiful view at the vulcano Rinjani. I would recommend going on a walk with Jonny through the rice fields and follow the hidden paths to see the process of coconut oil (and even do it yourself), learn about the rice farming (plant some by yourself), see the monkeys play in the trees in the monkey forest and learn some Bahasa on the way. The day ends with a nice jam session and a glass of rice wine. It was a unique experience and one of my highlights on the trip. Makasi Kumpel!

"Fantastic stay in the middle of the jungle"

9.0

We had a fantastic stay with Jonny and his family. The room has a beautiful view over the rice fields and in good weather you can see the Rinjani. We spent two days with the family. They took us on a tour of the rice terraces, waterfalls, jungle, the monkey forest and a local market. We enjoyed the enormous hospitality and care, the incredibly friendly locals (we will never forget the day at the pool) and the delicious food prepared by the family. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy peace and quiet in the middle of nature.
