Extraordinary views in a holiday home in Valletta

Apartment's location and cleanliness.

Elevator not working. 67 steps in narrow ugly concrete spiral staircase. Check-in instructions wrong. Said 1st floor, maybe so if elevator working. Since not working, 4 floors up! Apartment number not on door had to guess. Given pin number wrong and no # key to press contrary to instructions. Spent 35 mins on phone late at night trying to sort out where the flat actually was and how to open door. Electric hobs not working, no instructions. No reply to my querey. Have raised formal complaint. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE if you don't like climbing lots of stairs several times a day.

Fabulous view. Location was great for walking around Valletta. The apartment was very spacious. There was a washing machine for clothes. Wi-Fi worked well.

Check in was 3 pm but our apartment wasn't ready. We were given a door code key and instructions that didn't work. Ad said apartment was on the 1st floor but it was on the 4th floor. I expected to be able to use the stairs but they were locked so the only access was a tiny elevator. One bathroom had extremely dim lighting, the other had a sink that didn't drain properly. I tripped on the rotten board on the deck. There is no dishwasher or microwave. There is no clothes dryer or clothes line or clothes drying rack. Bedside lamp and hair dryer had plugs that didn't work with the wall plug. They said they would send over adaptors but they never did. There was no light over the dining table or kitchen sink. Kitchen didn't have a lid for the frying pan, salt and pepper shakers, baking pans, casserole dish, salad spinner, salad bowl or salad spoons. The mattress was hard and lopsided so it felt like I was going to slide off the bed. In our opinion this was not the luxury apartment we had expected.

Great location, near city centre but away from main hustle and bustle. Conveniently located near a playground which was very handy for our toddler. Lovely sea views and close to ferry to cross to Sliema. Tastefully decorated and plenty of space to spread out in. We especially loved the Maltese balcony and window seats.

Sink in one of the bathrooms was quite splashy as it was bowl shaped so ended up with wet tap area throughout our stay. Accessing property was up stairs which wasn’t so easy with a pram. Had some difficulty getting into the property itself as door had an electronic lock and we weren’t sent the code beforehand so had to call Zzzing outside the front door to get it.

Unfortunately, we found that the elevator was not functioning without any further information. Although for us was not a major problem, people of older age or with kinetic difficulties would have faced fundamental problems.

Location is excellent and the view over the harbour from the apartment is spectacular. Short walk to many restaurants and main shopping street. We felt cold at night and the hosts kindly provided us with extra duvets. Easy to find the keypad and code for the keybox was provided beforehand.

Instructions about the level of the apartment was inaccurate - it was on the 3rd floor but the instructions said the first floor. So we took a while to find the apartment as it was a multi-storey building. We also had to message the host to find out where the hot water heater and air-con switches were. Would have been useful if they had a guests guidebook in the apartment laying out these type of details.

Beautiful apartment in historic building on the edge of the old city with great views.

We had 24 hours with no working shower or flushing toilets. We reported this on Sunday evening and, despite several reminders, nobody came to fix it until Monday evening. There was no acknowledgement or apology, and no keeping us up to date for the reasons for the delay. The plumber who eventually came was very helpful, but used some of the towels to mop up water because we couldn't find a mop in the apartment. We asked for replacement towels, but none were provided. We asked for a partial refund, which was refused on the grounds that 'the maintenance was promptly conducted the following day, successfully resolving the issue in a timely fashion.' 24 hours without water is not prompt or timely!
