"A small, comfortable, quirky gem"

10.0

Small and well equipped, warm, clean and perfect for a few days’ stay. We liked having access to the terrace area at the back of the bakery, with a view of the beautiful, steep garden and the hens (whose eggs we enjoyed too!) The old baking oven is in situ and it was interesting to find out about how the space was originally used. Julia and Jules were very helpful. We’d definitely stay again.

We knew before we arrived that the sleeping area doesn’t have much headroom, so that wasn’t a surprise, but it was still a little tricky to negotiate. It was a lovely space though and a comfortable bed.

"Lovely small cottage"

8.0

The cottage was very well equipped, clean and comfortable and the decor was tasteful.

We didn't dislike the upstairs, but the sloped roof meant moving around took a bit of getting used to despite the fact we knew beforehand it was sloped.

Spotlessly clean, great shower. Quality crockery glassware. Quiet.

Sorry to mention it but ceiling height in bedroom space is VERY low, you wouldn't need to be tall, had to be bent over to move.

"Small but compact"

7.0

Cute & very clean Everything was in the apartment including milk in the fridge

You couldnt stand up in the bedroom unless you were in the middle at the top of the stairs. Had to bend over or crawl on knees round the bed or across it! Not good if have back problems or older

"Does the job"

8.0

A cute, eclectic and imaginative conversion. Lots of history. Everything you need from egg cups to comfy sofa. Only a half hour walk into town for an interesting and mostly attractive historic area. You will also find backwaters of wonderful pubs and restaurants. The Old Bakery also has a lovely courtyard and access to part of the owners' beautifully maintained gardens. Parking on the street directly outside the property.

Our only negative, reflected in the ratings is the bedroom arrangement and an otiose bathroom door stop. We appreciate that huge effort has been put into the beautiful accommodation and renovation and there are obvious constraints but it is a bit of a struggle. Climbing out of bed and down the steps in the middle of the night is bad enough but stubbing your foot on an impossibly irrelevant door stop in the bathroom is quite another.
