"Scenic home away from home, great for exploring local attractions"

7.0

Location is brilliant handy for getting to all the local sites info book from the owner is really useful especially if you have no idea where to explore. Useful to have a desk fan to hand in the hot weather Nice touch to have some milk and sweet treats on arrival and instructions were great Grounds and barn overall looks lovely very in keeping with the rural setting

Better attention to detail in terms of cleanliness would have made us leave a better score. ie. Dust behind sofa and under coffee table, some kitchen items were dirty from previous user. Evidence of pets with white hairs covering the rug downstairs and a stain on the carpet upstairs which is to be expected in a place that allows pets. So if you're someone who is bothered by this then probably look for somewhere pet free. Also an FYI for the owner the extractor fan in the bathroom doesn't seem to come on at all leaving it damp which we could smell whenever entering the barn.

This little barn was very clean, and suited my needs for my stay. It was very close to Cromer, only 8 minutes drive away, and set in nice gardens, with two friendly resident dogs. On arrival you need to park your car and then take your luggage up a gravel drive in the trolleys provided, which might be more difficult for less mobile people. I was only staying two nights, and on the day of my stay I was out between 7am and 7pm so I wasn’t actually in the cottage very much. For me, it worked very well. However, this is a small place! I am only 5’1” and was travelling solo, so I don’t take up much space, but even I hit my head on the eaves in the bed area. The staircase to the bed area is very narrow with steep stairs, which would be no good for a larger person, or anyone with mobility issues. The shower, though lovely for me, and nice and hot, probably would be too low for anyone taller than maybe 5’10” ish. Oddly, given that everything else was quite low, the oven is high and I needed to get on a chair to get my food in and out! Communication with the owners was frequent. I got multiple messages before arrival with useful information about how to find the barn, and four messages whilst I was out for the day, although I didn’t see them until the evening. They were welcoming me to the place, asking if I needed anything, and reminding me to clean the oven and mop the floor before leaving and not to turn the bedding inside out when I stripped the bed! The messages said that whilst cleaning is done (and clearly had been before my arrival) this helps to keep running costs down for future guests. Note that the particulars of the property say they provide milk, but there was none when I arrived and I was going to Cromer that evening anyway, so picked some up there. However, if you’re like me and like a cuppa when you arrive somewhere, remember to get some milk on your way. All in all this little barn suited my needs, but would not suit everyone given its size.

Great location close to local facilities, beautiful gardens, great communication and TV worked perfectly.

Stairs up to bed and very low sloping ceiling would be difficult for the less mobile.

"A wonderful winter weekend in Nelson's county."

10.0

Our hosts were very helpful in giving all the useful directions to the property. On arrival at the property, we were greeted by a wonderfully converted flint and redbrick barn with all mod-cons. A welcoming jug of milk and 2 scrumptious flapjacks. Basic necessities are provided for your stay which means you don't have to transport half of your house. Lovely comfortable bed and sofa and a great shower system. Extremely quiet and a good night's sleep is almost guaranteed. A return is almost a certainty.

Not much. However if guests arrive when it's dark, take a torch with you .
