Cat Ba Hongkong Hotel

Our room included a separate, spacious area for the kids with its own door. The views from the rooftop were stunning! This hotel is run by a lovely family full of character. They took care of everything for us transfers, tours, and scooter rentals. Very organized and always ready to help. Only a 5-10 minute walk down the hill to reach the waterfront.

If you’re heading to Sapa next, just ask the staff to arrange your transportation. They booked a luxury bus for me that was both comfortable and more affordable than booking elsewhere. The service even included a convenient pick-up from the hotel.

Ben, the hotel receptionist, helped me arrange a birthday cake for my husband when I requested it in advance. I was very pleased that she remembered my reminder. Many thanks to Ben!

Upon smelling the room, we asked our host if there were any available rooms we could change to. Unfortunately there was no other rooms but he did apologise and seemed sorry about the situation

The smell. Oh god the smell. The bathroom and room has no form of ventilation (fan, window etc) and so all of the steam and humidity has no where to go other than back into the room. Everything was damp and humid, all of the time. And the years worth of showers and mold that that bathroom has had reeks so bad. The outlets were blocked as well so you couldn’t plug anything in. There was one working one so my partner and I took turns charging things The sink fed directly onto the ground weirdly? (Someone came and fixed this on our second day) Wouldn’t recommend this place tbh

Building is rather old, so are the rooms, AC and bathrooms. The AC did function, but it was so noisy that we turned it off and used the fan instead. Overall things are not well taken care of, and sadly also not that clean anymore. If you're looking for a place to spend just one night and don't want to spend a lot, this will do. However, I'd try to find some place different.

The staff at the hotel are very helpful - they supported me with information on how to travel to Cat Ba and also helped to arrange a day trip out on the boat. They also gave me the information about getting to the hotel from the ferry. A good level of English spoken. Overall the room was comfortable and had what I needed. It's a good location and easy to walk about town. Breakfast was tasty - the ginger and lemon tea one of the best i've had!

The room was mostly clean - the ledge above the bed / top of the headboard was dusty. The cupboard also was missing the inside shelf, so you could only hang things, but not place anything flat inside.

Great stay for a low price! Room was massive and very clean - very comfy beds. Breakfast was very nice. It’s also situated between two very nice restaurants - try Napoli’s for the best pizza we have had in SEA. We would highly recommend this place.
