"Exceptional"

9.0

Such a warm welcome. Lots of lovely little touches like the sloe gin and the fresh cake every day. Very comfy bed, lovely shower and nice deep bath. Restaurant good absolutely amazing. Breakfasts were fabulous too. Andrew, Diane and the team were all so lovely. Road very quiet, didn't hear any traffic noise.

Very warm and radiator thermostats didn't seem to make a difference

"Good spot to see Northumberland and near the A1"

Good food. Attentive staff. Large room. Great shower.

Beds only 2foot 6inches so rather on the small side. Duvets need to be bigger and mattresses are nearing their sell by date.

"Very pleasant, relaxing stay"

10.0

Everything was good! Lovely room, with everything we needed. Very nice decor with a "country" feel. Specially appreciated the little extras, home made cakes and sloe gin, plus ample water and fresh milk provided. Plenty of free parking. All staff were very pleasant and friendly.

Only issue was with the toilet, extremely slow to fill up, so had to wait quite a while before second person could go! This was balanced out by the exceptionally good shower.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay. From walking through the door everyone was very friendly. We ate here both nights and the food was excellent. The lovely touch of cake and sloe gin on the room was very much appreciated!. Would definitely recommend.

"Perfect Inn in a great location"

9.0

We were staying in the area en-route to Scotland because we wanted to visit holy island and Bamburgh beach and castle. This is an excellent place to stay, close to both, the room was great, the bed comfy, dinner was excellent and we had a great breakfast. Everything was as expected or better. We can certainly recommend the White Swan and will return ourselves.

"A lovely stay yet again - recharged batteries already looking forward to our next visit."

10.0

We've just returned from our second stay at The White Swan in Warenford, and it's safe to say we'll be back for a third. This is a genuine village public house, located in rural Northumberland. The benefit we found is the peaceful location but still very near the busier coastal tourist spots we want to visit. Our stay was a Friday and Saturday. Our room was lovely, complete with complimentary cake and homemade sloe gin. The food was excellent, the menu exceptional value, and the staff, Warm, hardworking, and unfailingly accommodating. The White Swan truly is a golden nugget for the honest traveller looking for a genuine pub stay with character, warmth, and excellent value. See you next time.

Having to leave !

"Awful"

1.0

The young lady who greeted me on my arrival. She was polite & welcoming. It’s such a shame that thereafter everything went downhill.

The king room is located directly above the bar, and unfortunately the noise from below was very LOUD and CONTINUOUS from around 6pm until approximately 11pm. It made it impossible to relax or get an early night. This is an important detail that was not disclosed in the listing, and had it been, I would not have booked—particularly as the room was payable in advance. The bed was also extremely uncomfortable, which added to an already poor night’s sleep. I raised these issues with the owner the following morning. To her credit, she did provide a full refund when I requested it. However, this followed initial responses such as “no one else has complained” and questioning why I had not raised it at the time. Given the nature and persistence of the noise, this was not something that could realistically have been resolved during the evening. I would strongly recommend that the listing is updated to clearly reflect the room’s position above the bar. This would allow future guests—especially those seeking a quiet, restful stay—to make an informed decision.
