Silvia's House

As a woman travelling solo this was not a good fit for me. Some positives: Close to train station and in a grittier part of town which makes it interesting during the day. Francesco refunded me one night when I chose to change accommodation. The experience may be different for people travelling together, or during the university year when the street may be busier but based on my experience I would not recommend.

I found the space to be very unclean (the bedroom floor was unswept and sticky, kitchen surfaces grimy and hair blocked the drain for all 3 days I was there) and the last 800m back to the apartment at night was very isolated. I cut my evenings short to avoid returning after 10pm, in part because Francesco's father had told me that after that time it wouldn't be great to walk alone. Breakfast was in theory included but there were no coffee pods for two of my three mornings, the fruit was rotten, and a packet of breakfast croissants in the cupboard was empty for the whole time I was there. I tried to raise the cleanliness and safety with Francesco before choosing to leave, but it didn't change and Francesco also didn't seem to understand that an isolated street in a rundown area is a different experience for a woman than a man.

This is a great place to stay in Palermo :) Francesco and his father make you feel like home. This place is clean and has many amenities so you feel comfortable. Thank you very much Francesco and Andrea for that palermitan experience

The location of the property seems a bit run down but nothing to do with the property itself

The stay at Palermo was very good. Francesco is very kind and helpful person. The room as well as the bathroom and the kitchen are perfectly clean, and the location is central. It is close to the main station as well as to the historical center of Palermo.

The hosts handed me the keys and showed the facilities. They were very helpful.

Convenient location near train station, although more further away from most other tourist attractions.

They first try to give me a noisy room. Only after negotiation I was been given a more quiet room.

Met the owner at the Apt. And in a few minutes all the necessary was explained. Despite me not speaking Italian it was understood

I didn’t like that I couldn’t speak fluent Italian with the host/owner!!

If you're looking for the real Sicilian experience, this place is for you. The apartment is extremely clean, it's very well located in a safe and interesting area, it's got all there goods to make your stay comfy and Francesco, the host, couldn't be more helpful and kind. At Silvia's house the guest is the centre of all the actions and Francesco would do everything for you. You can actually tell that this is a family business!

The holidays came to an end very soon 😢
