"Fine, but we were glad we did not have a longer stay booked."

4.0

Location was great - parking was easy and close. The size of the property was a nice surprise. The decorating was great and really practical. Loved the library and TV choice was fab.

The kitchen was dirty, with cobwebs in cupboards - causing us to feel the need to wash things before we could use them, there was a huge amount of rubbish in the garden - piled high, so we were unable to sit outside or use the area. A local company was constantly charging - something - causing loud humming across the property and some vibration in the bathroom. The general maintenance needs attention, tap were leaking in the bathroom.

Roomy, but the bathroom downstairs is a bind, there’s a cold tap that leaks so it’s costing you money.

"Reeked of kerosene inside the property - AVOID, AVOID, AVOID"

3.0

Good location in the town, only a short walk to the local pubs. It is a spacious property.

The property REEKED of KEROSENE. There is clearly a problem with the central heating system. I cannot emphasise how strong the smell was. My clothes & bag reeked of kerosene after staying there. Based on previous reviews (16/06/2025), this is clearly an on-going issue. The host claims it is normal for an oil-fueled boiler to smell in this way. Utter rubbish! It is HUGELY IRRESPONSIBLE to market this property to guests as it is, as guests are subjected to inhaling kerosene fumes whilst in the house. Given the situation (the presence of kerosene vapour inside the house), I do not consider it good value for money, as it is not a comfortable stay. Attempts to gain a partial refund were in vain. The host (Neil) initially offered a meagre £30 but failed to carry through. Be warned, he will attempt to reassure guests by the fact a heating engineer did not find fault with the boiler. Neil, if there wasn't a fault, the house wouldn't smell like it does. You continue to market it to guests as it suits you to do so. AVOID at all costs.

"Perfect spot if you like walking, good food and excellent beer in the local pubs."

8.0

Great location. A shop opposite and two pubs within walking distance. Also a cafe that we didn't get to but looked like it did a lovely breakfast. Lots of lovely walks on the doorstep. Very friendly little town, very dog friendly too. House was comfortable and warm with good, clean facilities and equipment.

The kitchen was a bit chilly with no heating it there - this was a perfect excuse not to cook! With that door shut the rest of the house warms up nicely.
