Lovely establishment. Clean, nice music when you enter and though old, very nice hotel.

When the staff disappeared and people off the street knocked on my room door to check in! when I phoned the front desk. no answer. When I went to the front desk on Saturday, no one was there. The office was open, master keys and car keys available for anyone to grab. I became worried along with some folks trying to check in. We searched the hotel, yelling "Hello, Staff, Housekeeping" for over an hour, no response from anyone, I called the police they would send someone over. Then Raul (3-11 shift guy) walks out of room 103, which is in the lobby. He seemed shocked we were all there and when I asked him, where he was this past hour plus, he claimed he was checking rooms. That lobby was occupied by me and others from before 5pm until well after 6 pm. For over an hour, myself and 2 other quests (who cancelled their check-in, also through booking.com) protected that lobby and clients from anyone else getting keys and such. When I asked what Raul was going to do to make sure this didn't happen, he assured me it wouldn't. Well, looking over past reviews, 3 years ago, the front desk was left empty for over 3 hours. Owner, Clara, said this has never happened before. I told her he has never been caught before. I told her to check the cameras, I was not lying. She said he has worked for us for over 10 years, I then asked her, do you delete video if staff says all was quiet or do you at least glance at it. She didn't answer me. Not having much of a choice (in addition, i was suffering from an intense migraine at the time) I stayed my last night, however, not trusting that anyone would keep me safe, I had to barricade my room door to ensure my safety. When I checked out, they would not give me my receipt, they said it should be emailed to me. (I have the receipt from Booking.com) People were able to walk right through the lobby and knock on my door (107) which is in a hallway past the front desk.

It was good overall. The breakfast was good, the room was clean enough. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy.

The receptionist was not friendly. And it was quite surprising that we need to pay $150 deposit money for only one night. I know I will get it back after couple of days, but it should be noticed before I make the reservation.

We chose this hotel as it was adjacent to family for a minireunion. It was the perfect hotel with it's luxurious finishings and old world charm. The bathroom was enormous with double sinks and a level of finishing rarely seen today. The staff went out of their way to ensure we and our travelling dog companion were welcomed.
