Alley Garden Homestay Hoi An

Free bicycles, bottle of water, towel, and included breakfast. Close enough to walk to the old town, and a nice bicycle ride to the beach. Curtains around beds, no bunk beds. Good sized Lockers. Extended by two nights at reception.

We booked a pool view room with balcony on booking.com, at the last minute. When we arrived were told there was a broken toilet in that room so we had to take a room at the back (no view or balcony) I assumed it would be less money, but 'No'. It then was apparent that the pool view rooms were all occupied (so broken toilet?). The booking.com site said credit cards accepted, but when i came to pay was told 'No' and taken by motorbike to an ATM, so the booking cost £15 more than I expected. Not great value in the first place. The room could have been cleaner, long black hair on the floor and mold in the bathroom, bedlinen not particularly fresh.

The common area with the dining area and pool was very nice! The staff was super friendly.

The room itself was unfortunately a little bit of a disappointment, didn’t look as in the pictures, had a musty smell but the most disappointing (while also a bit comical) aspect was that the chickens and roosters right outside our room kept us awake during the night. So the quality of sleep was unfortunately lacking due to these neighbours.

I can’t imagine better place to stay in Hoi An. The host family is unbelievably welcoming and cordial! I’ve got a tea and some fruits when I arrived, also my room was ready almost 4 hours before the checkin hour. I could use a bike for free. They serve a delicious salty coffee which is very cheap. Breakfast which you choose is delicious (especially banana pankcases!) Even tough not everyone in the family speaks English they try their best to communicate and make your stay the greatest experience. The pool is clean, room is cosy. Also it was my birthday during my stay. And beside this very tasty dinner I’ve received, I found a small birthday cake on my door handle. I find it very heartwarming since I know it was completely unselfishly. I really recommend this place for a stay. That was the best stay I had in Vietnam.

Seriously do not look for any other place. Go to Alley Garden. This family is the nicest family I have ever met. Very helpful. Very supportive. my wife and I stayed in one of the private rooms. My wife got sick and the family took care of her by making hot pot, hot drinks, and so many other things. The breakfast was delicious. They even invited us to have lunch with their whole family which was so nice. I will come back.
