Hof Gorei Beach Resort Davao

The staff were great. Our butler Hannah ,was exceptional. She spoke very good English and was at our beck and call as needed. The reception staff Tang and admin were all very hospitable and welcoming.

There was no mention of the 64 steps from the parking lot advertised. Which to the business is a good thing. However to elderly , not so good. Also there were another 2 lots of steps leading to the beach the one beside the office has about 30 steps which was ok. However if you didn't turn right to access these you were faced with another 60 plus😂The beach is ok ,and not too good for swimming as there is seagrass close in to shore and be slippery if walked on . The beach itself is quite pleasant with good dining and seating arrangements. Also bungalows right on the beach are available as are fishing trips, island hopping , jet ski hire etc . The complex is looking a little in 5hevtundown side and could do with a coat of paint and rethatching of roofs of buildings on the resort. The pool is very good and clean, and needs a touch up of paint to the surrounds and steps. If I had known about the resort being on the side of a hill and having to walk down the steps,I would not have booked. I am 73 years old. On the upside they provided porters to carry the luggage to our rooms and from the rooms back up those 64 steps . My Gosh.

I am really struggling with this review. this place has so much potential. the folks were super nice and helpful. the food was good. this is a great place to completely DISCONNECt as you are isolated. your pretty much left to buy the food and water there.

the photos on booking.com are old. it’s run down and in need of repair. the pool was empty, the beach wasn’t really a beach.

hell of a trek down from the main road. very steep with many steps. Owner charges for every little extra like water, when the hotel stay was high price in the first place. all food was very expensive and complimentary breakfast disappointing. You were made to feel a prisoner if you wanted to leave the resort to explore anywhere else, which we did most days in our week stay. The beach wasn’t good for bathing. Mud and silt under the surface. Glad to make our escape in the end.

clean and comfortable! Kristine was our what they call butler and she was just amazing, so kind and she does an amazing all around Job! if you go there please take care of her! when we tipped her she was so grateful she could afford to buy rice.

The way we were billed for meals. Poor internet connection. CR clogging in shower. Lots of dogs and cats begging for food.

The property is situated in a ridge going down to the beach. It is not suitable for some elderly guests since one needs to walk down and trek through more than 60 steps going down and up to the rooms. Some parts of the property needs renovations and repair. there is only limited signal which is only accessible at the beach front near the wharf. The pool is not well maintained. We came during electricity black out and some areas cannot be supplied entirely by the generator. The beach is not clean and seabed have lots of algae which made it slippery and not suitable for swimming. It was a no smoking resort but some male staff are smoking near the beach.

Everything was just perfect. The food was good everyday. Location was great. Our butler Lang Lang was excellent really made us welcomed
