The Salty Mermaid Fisherman's Cottage, Whitstable

This is our third visit to Whitstable and this is by some way the best accommodation we've had there. It's a lovely cottage in a very convenient location - walkable from the station but only five minutes from the main street with restaurants and shops, and a few minutes more to the sea. The street was quiet (apart from the inevitable seagulls!) We loved all the quirky details in the décor and felt really cosy here (if you can use the word cosy in a heatwave!) At the same time there was a lot of light in the rooms because it is on a corner and some of them have dual aspect windows. The cottage is really well supplied with the bits and pieces needed for a comfortable stay, including toiletries. We didn't cook but the kitchen appeared to have everything we would have needed to do so. We hope to come again, perhaps for an autumn or winter visit (the log burner suggests it would be even cosier then).

It wasn't an issue for us but some people might not like the fact that the bathroom is downstairs.

This is an absolutely lovely cottage. Very comfortable and quiet, with very good facilities. Great location - just a short walk to the front. Whitstable is a super place - the harbour is buzzing at the weekends. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Salty Mermaid, and would definitely recommend it. Really nice that the cottage had outside space, too.

We just thought that perhaps black-out blinds in the two bedrooms would be helpful - in the summer, the light is still bright through the closed venetian blinds from about 4.30am.

Fabulous home - spacious and comfortable and a short walk to many places to eat, drink and shop.

Clean, comfortable, location is superb.

Car parking was a problem when we arrived (but it was a Bank Holiday). The next day it was easy to find a place on public roads.

Everything! The local personal touches were lovely and had a great family feel, very homely. Extremely well equipped.

Lovely cottage. Great location. Close to carpark, shops and beach. But down side street so it's quite. We would highly recommend 👌.

Double yellow lines outside house. But can park to unload the car. Car park is close by about 5mins walk.
