GBLoved the location and history and time warp feel of the place and friendly welcome and staff It was very pleasant to be able to visit the Walcott Hall Arboretum next door up the long drive ..Liked the eclectic collection of pictures on the walls and their bookshelf of John Buchan novels and no tvs!
Bathrooms need updating..a bit battered and shabby..and our room above the kitchen although spacious comfortable warm , and airy when window open had lingering trace of cooking fat smell and I felt the carpet needed replacing..Also why couldn't we have cafetiere ground coffee for breakfast and means of boiling an egg and real yoghurt not sweet flavoured supermarket yoghurt for breakfast..I understand there were no staff to serve breakfast so it was left out for us in an upstairs dining room.and no paper napkins provided at the breakfast either..but these are not really much to complain of..
FRit was a very very comfortable bed and plenty of tea coffee etc.
They were unable to locate our booking despite us having had the confirmation, we were lucky they had a room available as a wedding reception was taking place. The room had no TV which was a pleasant change , however the shower was very unsafe in the fact it was ok one minute and then went either boiling hot or cold and the tap to fill the bath had been fixed so you couldn't use the bath. However it was a very very comfortable bed
GBLovely old country pub with some good walks around. Accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable. Evening meal was delicious. Great complimentary breakfast.

On arrival we were told that the Pub does not do food on a Monday or Tuesday night with it being in a rural location. We did not expect to be driving out to find somewhere to eat. Monday and Tuesday night there wasn't any hot water after a hard days work. Finally having a shower at 6.45 is not acceptable. On the Wednesday night water intermittent. Shower head mostly blocked with limescale and kept falling of the wall. Bathroom not clean and the whole property in need of carpet cleaning and repainting. Should be only worth £50 a night. Staff not very warm to paying guests.
