The Powis Arms

The quality historic furniture was nice and gave the room an authentic Edwardian/Victorian feel. There was lots of free parking and the overall village setting was beautiful. The free wifi worked well. The large brass bed and mattress was very comfortable.

There were only 2 plug sockets, 1 for the kettle and the other for personal use. The sockets were positioned at skirting level and I had to kneel down to plug in the kettle. There was no desk or chair (like big chain hotels) and as I was on business that would have been useful. The dining room was made available for use for laptop work yet I didn't use it. The hotel is set up more to holiday makers than business.

Warm welcome and great location. Really quiet and peaceful. Rooms very comfortable and bright.

Friendly helpful staff. Good 'pub grub' type food - had dinner and breakfast. Bar and dining area quite pleasant.

The bedrooms were very basic, dated and cold. No TVs, poor lighting, bit grubby. The room prices were cheaper than local alternatives so we didn't expect anything fabulous but it didn't feel like good value, at least at the Booking.com price.

Oldyb worldly like Stepping back in time . Decor was in keeping with the place , we loved it .

The bed was a bit uncomfortable For me but I was suffering with a bad back but that was it everything else was great we will go back when we have time to go walking .

One twin bed - bottom sheet wasn’t clean - fortunately I could use the other bed. Shower was hose from bath taps which were difficult to reach and difficult to control. Taps didn’t shut off fully so kept dripping from shower head. Flaking ceiling above shower. Bedroom smelt of dampness No tv

Breakfast was superb and cooked to order. Plenty of choice and quality was excellent.
