The Town House

This is well located. Parking on road is limited. A very short drive and even shorter walk is a paid car park. The room was nice and for work travel works well. If walking isn’t a problem there is some good food just down the hill steps towards the water. You do have to walk up stairs into the building. There is a towel rail, just to counter an older review.

Wifi not working. Not a deal breaker.

Excellent location and comfortable, clean accommodation.

Unfortunately the wifi in the property didn't work throughout our stay and the signal in the area was so low that our personal data allowances wouldn't connect either. During many previous stays in Whitby this has never happened before.

The accomodation was surprisingly spacious! I was expecting a room with a small kitchenette and bathroom but it was like a small flat! Livingroom with dining area and small kitchen. Separate bedroom and a bathroom with an entry hall! The location is walking distance from the town centre. You can see the ruins of Whitby abbey feom the livingroom.

At the time the wifi wasn't operational. Everything else was spot on!

Bed was comfy. Pillows and blanket nice. Dog friendly. Large room.

Mould/damp every where. The whole room smelled so bad of foist and damp and the extremely large and noticable damp patches have been hidden in the pictures in the booking ad. Window would not shut properly so constant draft and it was a very rainy weekend. This also left us feeling on edge to leave stuff in the room as it would actually take nothing at all to break through the window. Back door also looks like someone had drilled through it and just had a large hole you could see right through, again not really leaving us feeling 100% comfortable or safe during our stay. Dust everywhere, on top of fireplace, plant in corner was thick of dust which is awful for your chest in an already extremely damp room. Plant was clearly moved to corner to hide the damp (its so big you couldn't hide it). Kitchen benches grubby on arrival, cupboards smelled awful. Shower had very low pressure and had pink mould on the wall. Freezing cold in bathroom also, no towel rails to hang wet towels or hand towels? Remote for TV was VILE, thick of food. No WiFi despite this being advertised. Read reviews and someone said maybe you could gwt through the tv but no instructions left for this?? Couch stank and was filthy.. needs a good deep clean, especially as it is sog friendly. Should be doing this bi-yearly. I understand it is a 'budget' stay and I can get over the basic facilities for this reason but I cannot get over the dirtiness and damp, budget should never mean unclean. People could get really sick! All in all it was a very disappointing stay and sorry but i would not stay here again or reccomended to anyone at all in its current condition. Reccomendations to owners - Fix out the window as a priority. This might resolve the problem with the damp! - Sort out the damp and mould on the walls. It looks hideous but is also not good for health - Hire a professional to clean the couch. It looks brown when it is an actual grey couch...
