"Issues need addressing, reviews show recurrent complaints, could be brilliant"

6.0

Great to have parking as York is expensive to park, host allowed parking before we could access the property. Decor modern. Nice products in bathroom, plenty of towels (and toilet rolls) Location great, convenient to walk into York in 10-15 mins. Good welcome info, welcome pack of tea and coffee would’ve been better with milk.

Main bed very creaky and wobbly, sheets very creased, bedside lamps didn’t have bulbs, front bedroom blind broken, noticed in morning that no bottom sheet on single bed, daughter was lay on a quilt cover that didn’t cover mattress. Exposed grips on door plates. Garden overgrown, doesn’t live up to pics, back gate broken and didn’t close. Fridge was turned off and a bag of ice in freezer had melted and was leaking. Washer was full of washing, some small bits of rubbish in bin, welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits & cereal but no milk (shop was closed when we walked back after evening out) Jug under radiator in kitchen, broken lock on the private cupboard in twin bedroom. Woke in morning to a big puddle on kitchen counter where shower had leaked, wallet was here and it ruined the leather and some contents, messaged host but no response.

"Disappointing"

4.0

The location was good, not far from york city centre

Me, my mum and gran went there for a weekend over the Christmas period. Heating wasn’t working, the place was freezing, called the host but did not have any response, finally she came out to the property but said it wasn’t working and wouldn’t be able to get someone out to fix this until the next day, she did go out and buy us two small heaters that plug in the wall but unfortunately that only heated up the two rooms and rest of the house was freezing which was not ideal for my 84 year old gran. We finally got our showers after wasting our first night there trying to sort all this, once we had them we realised there was a big leak coming from the ceiling in the kitchen below the bathroom, leaking over all the electrical appliances which of course is a safety hazard. This happened every time we had a shower over the weekend. There was nails between the carpets going up the stairs and in the upstairs hall so you had to watch your footing. The tv upstairs and most of the lamps are for show, no bulbs or plug socket to even plug the tv/ lamps into.

"Excellent accommodation"

8.0

Excellent accommodation, about 20 minutes walk from central York via train station. Decorated well, with all facilities and equipment you would need during your stay. Comfortable beds, heating on, tea, coffee and even breakfast flakes provided. Quiet neighbourhood, private parking.

Communication could be better in term of responding to messages on booking.com or emails. However, the owner responded to our call on the day of stay and let us in earlier to get changed as we were getting to the wedding so thank you for that. Another thing is poor drainage in the bathroom. When taking shower the water would pour over the shower cabin to the floor. So take flip-flops with you. Usually the code to get the keys fom the locker in given few days before the check in. For this accommodation you need to prompt the owner to send you the code on the day.

"Bad"

1.0

Location was close to York City centre - that was about as positive as I can say about the stay

Had arranged for an early check in but the host went quiet after it was agreed which meant we waited outside the place for 45 mins. Cleaning crew only turned 15 mins before the original check in time

"The Chic Haven could be a fantastic haven in a great location with free parking but the lack of heating and flooding wer"

6.0

The property was in a good location with free parking. It was a nice property with good living spaces.

When we arrived the letter box was on the floor so the property was very cold. We were unable to turn the heating on throughout our stay so it remained very cold until we found 2 portable heaters in the bedrooms. The wall fire in the lounge didn’t produce much heat. When we flushed the toilet, the cistern leaked and flooded the bathroom floor. Then the water dripped through the lounge ceiling onto the lounge floor. We found a jug in the kitchen under the radiator fitting which was full of water so there obviously had been a problem with the heating system that we were not informed about. I don’t usually complain about little things but the cold temperature and water leaks were significant. It’s a shame because it could have been a really lovely property if these problems had been sorted.

"Lovely house, good location but lack of communication"

6.0

N/Aw

On Arrival the toilet was leaking, they contacted the owner who said just keep an eye on it. The host let them go in early so the property was cold, they were assured the heating was on timed and would come on soon. They went out and favoured returned before 9pm. The house was freezing! They tried twice to contact Maisie without success so say wrapped in duvets.
