Continuously tried to contact the owner to confirm an earlier check in, no response on text, what's app, call and voicemail. Booking confirmed and paid, drove all the way from Nottingham to York for the music festive at York races , no access email received, contacted booking .com to confirm code, only to be told by email they could no longer accommodate us , already had a drink by this time and had to sleep in the car DO NOT BOOK THIS ACCOMMODATION , ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS 😤😡😠

Location was good. Lots of nice places and places to eat nearby. Modern property Nice little garden.

Despite just been cleaned as cleaner was coming out as we went in , it wasn’t very clean. There were empty cigarette packets in the bedroom and in the garden. Blinds in all bedrooms broken and useless. Bits if them left on the floor. Dirty bedding shoved in the wardrobe. Breakfast bar was sticky and only seats two. Need to concentrate on the basics rather than quirky furnishings. No communication from hosts until a couple of hours before we arrived , obviously hadn’t prepared at all for us , poor really.

Location was good - ten minute walk into town.

We were asking how we gained access to the property all day, no reply to calls or messages. Upon arrival an hour after check in time they then sent us the key code. The property was dirty no bedding on all the beds, towels were worse for wear. Toilet didn't always flush Window blinds all broken Lamps didn't work in either bedroom

Cheap bedding, broken toilet seat and blinds, missing light bulbs, only and small table unstable therefore useless, broken bottles in garden, shower froze or scalded, no batteries in tv remote

The location is close to York railway station, really central. The house is clean and stylishly decorated with a sweet little garden. A pleasure to stay a couple of nights in, and a big thank you to the hosts. So much more fun than a hotel and good value.

Because I hadn't stayed in a AirBnB before, I found the booking.com side of things pretty confusing. Booking.com kept sending messages which I wasn't sure I needed to reply to or act on - a confirmation message after I had confirmed everything, for example, and more messages that just muddied the waters. I found the lock box aspect a bit stressful because the system didn't let me know when I would get the code. It finally arrived while I was enroute, having spent a few hours on the train worrying that I'd end up stuck on the doorstep with my elderly mum, who isn't well, with no way to get in. It turned out fine but booking.com really wasn't clear. As someone who has worked online since the mid 1990s it wasn't a good CX. Nothing to do with the hosts, obvs. Just one thing for the hosts to know: the blinds in both bedrooms are need fixing. Otherwise absolutely spot on!
