Home Away Ella

We had a lovely comfortable stay here and were made to feel so welcome by the whole family. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. It's so nice to stay somewhere where the small details have all been thought of. There was even a first aid kit and emergency toothpaste! The bed was so comfortable, i haven't slept that well in ages! The bathroom is lovely too with it's own water heater so available when ever you need it. We especially enjoyed the breakfast, lots of fresh fruit, juice or smoothie, coffee, toast and sri lankan treats to try . The location is perfect, just a short walk from town in a peaceful natural garden. Great value for money too! Highly recommend.

Great breakfast. Lovely hosts. Laundry service. Quiet location but only a short walk to main street of Ella. Hosts couldn't do enough for you and their tuk tuk is always available for any trips or journeys that you want. We were picked up free from the train station.

Lack of clothes hanging space - but that isn't unusual in Sri Lanka

The family are so, so, so nice and accommodating. They gave us free lifts back and forth to the town should we have wanted one (it is a big hill to the accommodation which is walkable but something not doable if you have bad mobility).

Something we didn't see in the reviews was the size of the hill. Although this can be negated by the tuktuk offering from the family. If you have a driver it is very difficult to get to the venue.

Everything about Home Away Ella was perfect. Comfortable, clean, spacious room with attention to detail (hairdryer, kettle, plug adaptor). Breakfast every morning was so generous, delicious and varied every morning so you always get something new to try! Even fresh juices/smoothies😋 Location is ideal, quiet but less than ten minutes walk and you’re in the centre (it is up a steep hill but not a problem for us). But what really made our stay were the hosts. They really can’t do enough for you and are always super responsive and willing to help in any way they can. We were collected from the train station and dropped to the bus stop, offered tea and biscuits every day, driven to Diyaluma falls for a reasonable price, advised on places to see, restaurants to eat at and bus times and they even dried our washing on their line for us! If you are thinking of staying here and the room is free (crazy how they aren’t always booked up!) don’t hesitate. If we ever find ourselves in Ella again we will be back! Thank you so much😃

Can’t fault it😊

The staff/family were amazing! Room was very comfortable with a great shower, and a fridge. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, we ended up extending by 2 days and cancelling our other accomodation in Ella because we loved it so much. There is only one room so make sure to book it quickly!

The room is lovely, feels and looks new, smells nice, and is supremely comfortable. I missed this place when I left. Hansa and Sachi are excellent hosts. Hansa made it easy for me to find trails, good restaurants, and the right buses. Sachi took me to Ella’s Rock, waterfalls, a cave, and sites. He took wonderful photos and videos of me and gave me just the right amount of information on each place. Other guides I’ve had in Sri Lanka have talked so much it makes it hard to appreciate what I’m seeing so Sachi’s measured and pleasant demeanor was refreshing. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Elle. I have nothing but the highest praise for these special hosts and the room. Also, it’s a short walk to town, The bus station, the 9 arch bridge and Little Adams Peak.

I liked everything about this property and the hosts.

Amazing! Beautifully presented room, immaculate, the hosts have thought of every little festival such as toiletries, an umbrella, a hairdryer, a torch and many more things. The location is great as you are hidden and away from main drag, yet only a 6 minute walk from the main road into town. The breakfast was outstanding! The host and family are so friendly and cannot do enough for you! 5* service at very affordable rates.

It was a room close to the city center of Ella, but you had the feeling that you were in the jungle. The family who is running the homestay is really friendly and does everything to make you feel at home. They helped us with deciding what to see without and drove us around all day for a reasonable price. There was something new for breakfast every day, and I would recommend their curry every day. There is only 1 room, which makes it even more unique. I would recommend this to everybody

Warm, kind and friendly host, a delicious breakfast and very comfortable room. All the amenities we needed and very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

Maybe be the most detailed room we’ve met in Sri Lanka. Excellent people and extraordinary breakfast. Congrats!
