The Great Hall

The property was maintained and decorated beautifully, in keeping with the age of the building. It has a lovely atmosphere which gives a relaxing feeling and is a stepback into the world and time in which it was created. Amy is a wonderful host and ensures you a tremendous welcome, doing all she can to make you comfortable. Gardens are waking up to spring and will be in full bloom soon. A fabulous location for enjoying the Westmorland countryside and superb landscapes for walking, painting, etc. Will be glad to return.

It's a challenging find, due to the limitations of Sat Nav, but locals are friendly/ helpful, and it's a nice place to get lost in.

What an experience. we were on an unplanned stay due to weather conditions travelling to a ferry to Ireland. However WHAT a bonus! we wanted something unique and filled with character. The Great Hall has both in abundance, wonderful rural location but handy to main road (5-10 mins), close to a lovely restaurant in nearby village (5 mins). The building is stunning and the four poster room we stayed in was just fabulous. Amy the host was/ is wonderful made us so welcome and could not do enough for us and as for breakfast a real treat!. Amy said she liked to have her guests feel they were at home and that is exactly how Amy made us feel! Thank you Amy!! a truly wonderful stay, room, location host and experience. We would thoroughly recommend Amy and the Great Hall!!

An amazing old house. All the authentic features you would expect. Host was very friendly and welcoming, offering us tea on arrival. Nothing was a problem.

Narrow access via winding stone stair was a bit awkward. We had ensuite room but shower was by hand held nozzle and water dribbled out. There was a shower room but that was in use by other guests we believe.

Very nice old property, lovely grounds and owners took care to make sure our rooms were warm

The uniqueness of an ancestral manor. The beautiful countryside in which the property sits was spectacular. The bedroom was comfortable and the four poster bed made it very special.

Otstanding. We had our own private dining room in a 17th century house. Magical!!!! The host Amy was absolutely wonderful and cooked us an amazing full english.

The 4 poster bed was soooooooooo comfortable. The charm of a 17th century house, and the host, Amy, has to be one of the warmest, kindest, most hospitable persons we've ever met. I swear if she bent over any further to help us she would've snapped in two. Lovely woman!!!,
