Suggest railing be installed on wall side of stairs to improve safety at top of stairs for seniors

It was stylish, comfortable and well located. The hosts had thought of everything and provided for it. We loved the cottage.

Just got back from a long weekend in the Lake District where we stayed in the lovely Heather Mere Cottage. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated (just like the pictures), very comfortable and was a pleasant stay for our group (4 adults). Location was brilliant, minutes away from the high street, with a short cut just outside the back door to shops, dining and exploring. This made it super convenient to take advantage of Bowness. On street parking was available using a permit, we were lucky and managed to park directly in front of the property every time. Check-in was a breeze, keys were located in a lockbox and they texted on the day to let us know the space was ready a few hours early- there was milk & chocolate waiting in the fridge. House is well equipped with everything you need- including a fully stocked modern Kitchen, large umbrellas, games, smart device chargers, menus for local food and a guidebook with photos to navigate all of the amenities in the house. Our favorite place to hang was in the lounge, that had large windows overlooking the garden!

Our experience was great, so my feedback is only constructive to elevate it to an excellent (10/10) 1. I would suggest adding some coat hooks/coat rack and a place to put wet/muddy boots & wellies. It’s the lake district, most people are doing walks/ hikes and there is lots of rain, so having a place to hang all the gear would have been nice, especially to keep the rest of the living space clean, tidy and dry. 2. While the shower looks gorgeous, its not very functional, as water goes everywhere (especially after 4 people showering) perhaps a water stopper/strip or something to help manage the water or AT least some better bath mats to soak up the water? There also wasn’t enough towels- no hand towel in the bathroom, only 1 bath towel per person, so when the water did go everywhere, we were at a loss unless we wanted to spend all of our time doing laundry. There was also a leak coming from the extractor fan in the bathroom above the shower- likely caused by the heavy rainfall, but again, this added to an already wet situation. 3. Lastly, the house overall was very clean, but there were lots of spiders & cobwebs (which is totally normal/natural in the UK), however, if the place had literally just been cleaned before we arrived, I would have expected that to be cleared. The throw blankets in the basket in the lounge also smelled a bit musty, so not confident they had been washed in between guests. Also not a negative- but just note that the rooms are very small, especially the 2nd bedroom- we couldn’t even open our suitcase all the way, so be sure to pack light!

Great communication from the host, very accommodating, helpful and polite, what more could you ask for!
