Uroa Zanzibar Vera Beach Hotel by Moonshine

I will never choose Zanzibar as a travel destination again. And I will not recommend Booking to anyone. Nor will I use it. They took my money and I did not receive any service for it. I hate Zanzibar. A gang of robbers.

My stay exceeded all expectations. The cleanliness was impeccable, with every corner of the property kept spotless throughout my stay. The housekeeping staff worked tirelessly, ensuring that not only the rooms but also the common areas were consistently maintained to the highest standards. The service was flawless, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the accommodation. I was truly impressed by the dedication of the staff to providing such a well-kept and welcoming environment.

However, while the accommodation itself was exceptional, the beach and ocean were unfortunately affected by algae ( see grass)

Hotel itself is very beautiful and pool is nice. There was always enought sunbeds. Masai staff was very nice and friendly.

Breakfast was very poor and for lunch/dinner you always had to wait 60-90 minuts. There was only few restaurants nearby so we left 2 days early. Prices very almost double compared f.e Numgwi

The pictures on booking.com were deceiving. The sink tap doesn’t work properly, the air conditioner didn’t work, no hot water, the WiFi was slow, several power outages, the food was terrible too salty daily, there was no variety for the breakfast. When you request for something specific to eat, it’s always out of stock, there was no variety of food, the place need some renovations even just paining since it’s a holiday resort/hotel. The staffs are not so friendly.

Polite staff. Nice decoration. Nice pool and beach. Passable food-good prices. Early check in.

A sound like a broken machine all night and day long couldn't leave you sleep at all. The bathroom needs renovation as the sink loses water. No kettle in the room, as the room description said. No private parking space(not safe at all). The road to reach the place was not good.

The location - very quiet and peaceful. The facilities are modest and well kept. Friendly staff. Shakira was particularly amazing and the guards were nice and super helpful. Security is top notch, I misplaced my handbag and it was found and kept for me.

No power backup option - if grid power trips, one stays in the cruel heat. This had us moved around rooms 3 times over the short time we were there. This was less than ideal. Housekeeping could do better in the placing and replacing of supplies - soaps, towels, used cutlery, etc. No in-house bar so forget about cocktails, unless you want to walk to and from Moonshine a couple miles away. Limited food choices and portions are not for a regular East African appetite 😅
