Uroa Zanzibar Vera Beach Hotel by Moonshine

It is beachfront small and cosy hotel. The pool is right next to the beach, beach is easy and quiet. The neighbourhood is very local and authentic :) nice and quiet. Staff is nice and chill.

The Junior Suite separate bedroom does not have ac and so it is very very hot and not much air in it.

We had a fantastisk stay at Moonshine. The staff was very attentive and smiling. Everyone did their best to fulfill our needs. Food was great and the beach excellent. The hotel was clean and they made sure to use bug-spray every night, so we had no problems with mosquitoes in our room. We felt very welcoming and give our best recommendations for this place.

We have no negative comments about this place.

Uroa is a good place to spend some calm and relax days. 1/1:30 distance from the main city, and the airport. take that in consideration if you want to do different activities. Good place to windy water sports. The local staff is amazing and tried to make our experience always better.

About the hotel. You know when all the small things became a huge deal? This resume our experience with Moonshine. (Zanzibar Vera beach hotel and moonshine Uroa boutique) We booked in their new location, Zanzibar Vera beach hotel. First advice: Don’t try to reach them calling the telephone number. Isn’t active! I asked a whatsapp contact before reach Zanzibar and wasn’t provided. Only reply in Booking chat. If you book with them we strongly advise use their shuttle service or you’ll be in trouble to find the place because there is no indication at all. We arrived around 20h and besides the Masai security no one else were in location. We wait at least half an hour for the receptionist arrive. We were the only guests until the last night and the management “remind” us that everyday, with short staff and a very slow service. All the facilities and every request was provide in the Moonshine. So, the food we order was made in the kitchen 10 minutes walk distance and bring to us, already half harm. We strongly recommend pay the F&B you order in the end of the stay to avoid loose money in the exchange process. So far we still don’t understand if the salty and spicy food are a chef’s choice or to hide something. If you want shellfish try local restaurants around, like Tartaruga or Tuna. The most important. We’d book 5 nights. On the 4th, after arriving from a tour, the management ask us to chance from Vera to Moonshine, because in our last night the hotel it’ll be fully booked and they needed our room. We didn’t believe that they were asking that. However, after check the new room and with a complementary dinner we accepted, because our experience was almost ending. But we could not regret more. The AC didn’t work properly and all the electrical system is in bad conditions. In the last night we didn’t have stable connection since 19h. Also the water supply wasn’t guaranteed. The hotel next door didn’t demonstrate any kind of problems.

Hotel is situated in a difficult location and does not feel safe outside the gates. Very poor variety of drinks at the bar, hotel can consider giving this aspect attention. Maybe just offer some more drink options, especially for the ladies (only two types of beers) . We did experience a lot of electricity problems, and coming from a country we have even more, it was just not fun getting away from homeland problems just to experience it somewhere else. There are also many beach walkers who try to sell all types of different stuff and they really don't respect your privacy, going for a walk on the beach was not enjoyable.
