Fisherman's Cottage in Pennan

Beautiful cottage. Obviously very old, but very clean with everything you will need for a stay. Lying in bed, listening to the waves dash against the sea wall was while cosy warm felt luxurious! We hope to return.

Pennan is a magical, sleepy seaside village and Chiara has lovely cottage to snuggle up in! The cottage is situated toward the end of the street. The lock box and instructions were easy to follow, although I struggled a wee bit initially with the key to enter. The main bedroom has a stunning view of the harbor, and the bed was DELICIOUS. Since I was solo I didn't bother with the additional bedroom on the top floor. There was plenty of hot water. The cottage was well stocked with kitchen items guests would need. The hostess provided a very thorough "welcome book" with all types of information from restaurants nearby to don't miss sights. She made sure to let me know that there were no stores or restaurants open, AND no WIFI, so I was able to prepare before arriving. It was the perfect place to unplug and enjoy the natural beauty of the town where Local Hero was filmed.

I must have misread the description, as I thought there would be a fireplace, which I was really excited about. There was a faux, plug in one, but it wasn't quite the same. I personally LOVED the spiral stair case, but it was a challenge to navigate with luggage. Lastly, without WIFI I missed being able to play music. All in all, the place was so warm and comfortable, I enjoyed myself too much to care!

Very cute, great location

The Sonos speaker was so fussy we didn’t manage to get it working. The electric fireplace was only for looks but didn’t do any heating. The house was just a tad chilly. Otherwise all good

Location is brilliant.

I was concerned with the water leak above the electrical fuse box in the house, although Chiara did call out her plumber to review the problem immediately so that was positive. The property is tired and cluttered. The futon and chair had stains on them which was a little disappointing - these were covered by a blanket. The kitchen isn’t that well equipped - it’s the minimum of what I would expect. The front door - none of us could get it to turn so we left it open for our stay, we were concerned that we wouldn’t manage to open it if we had managed to lock the door. The shower door is difficult to close. The upstairs bedrooms only have one pillow and we could have used some blanket throws downstairs as opposed to putting up the heating! It has the potential to be amazing with a little tlc. That said the beds were amazingly comfortable.

The location is quite remote and quiet, and lovely.

I should have asked for help to turn the heat up. There was a windstorm, and the main room of the house was pretty cold. The bedroom upstairs was perfect, though.

It was exactly as expected. Delightful. Cosy, remote, quiet, stunning views on your door step. Amazing beach for wild swimming, few miles way.

The lock on the door was a little stiff but resolved with some WD40 I found after.
