"Excellent, clean detached lodge in quiet countryside location"

10.0

Beautifully presented and clean, it was a real pleasure to stay here. Martin is a very kind host and made us feel very welcome. It’s a great property for watching the sunset over fields and very quiet. Parking is excellent too.

There’s nothing not to like!

"Quiet weekend in the countryside"

10.0

The lodge is really spacious, especially for the two of us so would be perfect for a family weekend. Everything was super clean and easy to find, as well as immaculately decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our little weekend in the countryside

"Enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing break based in a lovely, comfortable lodge we fully intend to visit again."

10.0

Cosy, well appointed eco lodge with allocated safe parking accessed from the main driveway, and a very welcoming and friendly host. It has a large kitchen with good quality appliances and plenty of equipment to make your stay as easy as possible, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The lounge furniture was very comfortable and we found the TV easy to operate. Having access to a good WiFi signal was also useful when planning our days, especially as it meant we could book tickets in advance for some of our outings. The lodge is in a quiet, rural setting and we enjoyed watching the cows with their new calves, rabbits and all kinds of birds. However, it was only a 10/15 minute drive along quiet country lanes to the A303 or other main A roads for easy access to all that the area has to offer, which was perfect. We needed to stock up on food items on arrival, so took a longer drive into the outskirts of Yeovil as there is no major supermarket nearby. We later learnt from our host that there was a convenience shop closer that would probably have served us adequately for our short stay, plus local farm produce available and I’m sure it would be easy to arrange for a food delivery from one of the major supermarkets for a longer stay, if required. As I have some minor mobility issues, the easy access and all-on-one-floor layout was perfect, plus a choice of bath or shower (with warm tiles underfoot courtesy of the underfloor heating!) suited us very well. There was no shortage of hot water at a very good pressure too. The bed was easily the most comfortable I have slept in for a long time - possibly even more than my own at home - and there was plenty of storage for clothing, etc, with the same peaceful view out over the field behind as seen from the lounge area. It was interesting to experience a purpose built eco property with underfloor heating powered by a heat pump and compare it to our 1930s traditional home. I imagine it would be very cosy for a winter break.

There was nothing we didn’t like. Just a couple of suggestions though, to make guests’ stay even better: A hand towel per guest would be great. We found all the guidance instructions provided by the host for operating appliances, heating, etc, were very clear and easy to follow, including for recycling, but were at a loss as to where to put our bag of non-recyclable rubbish at the end of our stay, so disposed of it on our journey home 😂. It wasn’t an issue as there was very little, but we couldn’t find an obvious bin outside the property and it really wasn’t worth making a fuss about. Perhaps this information could be added to the guidance provided.

Unfortunately there was some sort of mixup with my booking - as a result the key code box wasn’t set up for me to retrieve the keys - but after a call to the host they came to the property promptly and made sure me and my daughters could get in. The lodge was beautiful - it was so peaceful and comfortable. My daughters absolutely loved the fields at the back where we saw some friendly cows in the evening. Would highly recommend and would love to return.

"Beautiful family break location"

Beautiful location, beautifully decorated and all the things we needed for staying with young children. Cows and donkeys visiting us at the fence in the evenings was an added bonus.
