Heritage Villa by Aayu - 10 mins walk to Armenian St

Die Lage mitten in der Altstadt war toll. Alle zentralen Ziele ließen sich prima zu Fuß erreichen. Das Haus selbst fanden wir entzückend, die Begegnungen mit anderen Gästen angenehm. Aayu legt Wert darauf, den Gästen Georgetown und die Umgebung näherzubringen. Es werden gemeinsame Unternehmungen angeboten, und es findet ein Austausch in einer Chatgruppe dazu statt. Am wertvollsten erschien uns allerdings unser Concierge Haris, der uns jederzeit verlässlich mit Rat und Tat zur Seite stand.

I went by the photos and excellent reviews, was very disappointed. Our room was like a prison cell, it had no windows,fridge, kettle, TV. The Aircon took ages to cool the room with a 4cm gap under the door so had to block it with my trousers to stop the mozzies. On the plus side the shower was very good and the night girl was very nice. I should of realized when it said "experience life like a local" .

The distance and photos of the rooms they have posted on Booking.com. The rooms look very nice, but unfortunately they carefully hide many traps designed to catch you. I say “beware of the trap” because other guests have also complained for the same reasons — the staff there told us so. Therefore, the manager is aware of these issues and has not taken care to fix them; apparently, it suits him this way.

1. The bathroom is private but located outside the room without this being mentioned anywhere (Room 2). It is next to a common area. Every time you need to use it, you have to lock and unlock it with a very small combination padlock to prevent someone else from entering. During the day you might tolerate this, but at night it’s a different story.2. Check-in is self-service.3. When it rains heavily, rainwater enters the rooms (Room 1 and Room 2).4. If you stay in the lower rooms (Room 1 and Room 2), because the floors and the staircase upstairs are wooden, every movement of the guests staying upstairs can be heard very clearly and is extremely disturbing at any hour of the day or night.5. Directly across the street there is a small shop that plays very loud karaoke music until 11:00 p.m.6. In Room 1, dishes are washed almost right outside the exterior wall, and very disturbing noises are clearly heard inside the room until late at night.7. In all my years of traveling, I have never had such a bad experience with a property manager. Supposedly, he was trying to help us regarding the “trap” of Room 2, where the private bathroom was located outside the room, without being mentioned anywhere, next to a common area. I say “supposedly” because he offered us three solutions:The first was a downgrade to a room upstairs without even a window and accessible only by stairs (and he suggested this to a woman who had recently undergone hip surgery).The second was moving us to another one of his properties about 500 meters away, far from our friends with whom we had booked rooms together and who did not speak any language other than their native one, in a place that appeared to be under renovation, with a room that smelled of mold, dampness, and mustiness.The third option was to refund our money and have us leave. Leave and go where? That same night, to find two rooms close to each other in the same accommodation and under the conditions we had originally booked and at what price
