Wild Safari Clay House

Beautiful and unique stay in a brand new clay house. Owners are the best hosts we have come across in Sri Lanka, cooking delicious food for us each night. Owner also booked us an amazing safari which was very special.

Super friendly host and family. The food that they offered was sensational. Felt very welcome all the time. The owners brother offers Safari tours. There are accommodations that are closer to the National Park, but the distance was totally acceptable. Great value and a great experience!

The houses are built from clay and just have one Window (which is facing the street with its lamps). When we were there, the temperatures were high and during the night the Houses didnt cool off but the clay constantly emitted warmth. A second window would be great for air circulation. But the Temperatures were above average then, we were told.

Original way of staying in Sri Lanka - ideal for our visit of the Udawalawe Nationalpark. The safari offered by the family was great. Super nice host family, thank you very much for your hospitality! Food was amazing!!

The host and his family were absolutely amazing, they were so friendly and kind and they made this stay truly special. It was the cleanest room and best shower we have had in the whole of sri lanka. The Food was incredible too with massive portions and delicious fried rice and dal. The safari was superb with the hosts brother. He was so knowledgeable and knew the best spots to see animals, we had a great laugh with him aswell. Amazing value for money and I highly recommend this place if you’re considering a Udawalawe safari.

The owner was super nice and helpful. He built all these houses by himself and tried his best to make you comfortable. Welcome fresh juice on arrival. The house is simple but made with care and the bed was huge and comfortable. The dinner was delicious. Also we suggest to book a safari with the owner.

Note that there is no a/c but a fan. But this wasn't a problem for us.

We were very pleasantly surprised for the price we paid!! Very clean tidy place, very good bed we had amazing sleep, best shower we had so far in all of Sri Lanka, very nice young man helping us with everything you ask for, very good food in big portions!! Nothing bad to say here I would very much recommend. Also because the bungalow is made out of clay, it’s quite cool!

The houses are traditional clay houses and were finished just at the start of 2024. The bathroom was the cleanest we had during our entire holiday in Sri Lanka, with modern showers. Beds are big and comfortable. The pictures on booking are giving you a precise idea about the place.

There’s not a bad thing to say. If you are unhappy with anything, just tell Ravindu and he will try his best to fix whatever’s bothering you.

A hidden gem! Perfect quite location next to the river where you can swim. The hosts are the best, super kind, friendly and helpful. They made us the best dinner we had in Sri lanka! The huts are completely new, the bed was really comfy and everything was super clean. In the night you hear the jungle sounds to fall asleep. Make sure to also book the safari with Subhash, he is the best. Would 100% recommend it. Thank you so much for everything guys!
