The Pigsty in Braunton

This was such a cosy place to stay with everything you could ask for. Our hosts- Martin and Wendy were absolutely lovely and helped us so much with places to visit, bus timetables, places to eat etc. They made us feel so at home. We were able to borrow bikes if we wanted as we were very near the Tarka trail. We could also use all the beach and picnic equipment. The bed was super comfortable and we couldn’t ask for more. We liked staying in Braunton as it was a great base for some of the fabulous beaches nearby. There was a good bus route too if you wanted to travel without using a car. We hope to return one day.

It’s beautiful, fabulously decorated and the building has been really cleverly converted. Wendy and Martin are absolutely lovely & welcoming, and have thought of everything … they even provide bikes and beach chairs and we hired e-bikes from them which was so much fun! The bed is very comfortable and they have even thoughtfully provided extra pillows, iron & ironing board, games and packs of cards, and recommendations of places to go.

Just one negative which I really hesitate to write, but the downstairs is TINY!! The staircase (no handrail, yikes) takes up most of the space, and the shower room area is not adequate and is absolutely tiny to the point where we found it difficult to have a shower … I’m only 5’4” but husband is 6’3” and had to leave the shower room door open in order to be able to move at all (which opens directly into the kitchen area). The extractor fan was very weak so we had to open all windows (there isn’t one in the shower room) and doors in the property, including the front door, to de-steam after a (brief!) shower. No towel rail in the shower room on which to hang damp towels, so we had to had to hang them on the bannister in the bedroom and they were still damp the next morning (the weather was wet during our stay). We think you did a great job in converting the property but the fact that part of it has been kept as a private garage means that the guest area isn’t isn’t big enough to use comfortably:(

The decor, use of space, originality, location, facilities, garden, use of bikes and beach equipment and it was very clean.

The Pigsty is an incredibly well laid out, well appointed place to stay. We had access to bikes and the cottage has everything required for a comfortable stay. My daughter and I had a really great stay and Martin and Wendy were amazing hosts. Thank you.

I couldn't work out how to get hot water in the kitchen area. Everything else was perfect.

Very cute place right next to the start of the Tarka Trail, ideal if you want to get on your bike and be on the trail in 20 seconds. Well-equipped with a nice garden and really helpful, responsive hosts.

Wendy and Martin were excellent hosts and went over and above to give us a great holiday and made us feel like family. The Pigsty was a lovely place to stay and in a great location to explore north Devon, the Tarka Trail and all the wonderful beaches nearby. I wholeheartedly recommend the Pigsty to anyone wishing to visit Devon.

There was nothing to dislike

We had a great mini break in this quirky accommodation . The hosts were so friendly and helpful ! There was a garden space we could sit in and lots of useful items we could take to the beach . The allocated parking space certainly helps in the middle of Braunton ! The Pigsty is small but has everything you need for a break . Having a few essentials in the fridge was a nice touch 👍. I highly recommend this little gem .

Can't really think of anything ! The stairs were a little "steep" but we soon learned how to negotiate them 😊
