Writers View, Royal Mile Apartment Edinburgh

Apartment was in the best possible place for touristic tours around town, in the exact town centre, on the main street from castle. All of the attractions were on the walk lenght. Nevertheless, it was extremely quiet for the center of the town, you didn't have feeling you are in the center with all expected noices of trafic and people. It had all necessary equipment and everything was arranged through pick up/leave spot.

The location.......couldn't be better. Good toaster, kettle and fridge. Comfy beds.

Amenities sub standard. Very poor shower. Temperamental toilet. Central heating seemed to go off at night. Very outdated decor. Carpet that desperately needs cleaning. Musty smell. Needs updating and new flooring. Were warned about the stairs but be prepared...they are "next level hard" with your luggage!

The position was brilliant for us. couldn’t have been more central.

could have done with some tidying up. bedroom radiator has flaking paint on the floor every time you went past it. paper off ceiling near boiler. just a bit of TLC needed .

This is a fantastic place. You cannot top the location: the house is situated in a spacious historic yard (that also hosts a nice little Writers' museum with free admission), which is very quiet, yet opens directly onto the Royal Mile, with the castle only a 5 minute walk away. The train station (Edinburgh Waverley) is only a 10 minute walk, so one does not even need a taxi to get there. The apartment is on the third floor, which means one has to carry the luggage up several flights of stairs (there is no lift, since it is an historic building), but the wonderful views from the sitting room windows definitely make up for this. The apartment is spacious, bright, with all equipment (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, water kettle etc.). Key pick-up is very well thought out: you can pick up and return the keys at a counter directly at the train station (and in other places). The host is very friendly, helpful and accomodating.

we loved the location right off the Royal mile.

it states that it had a clothes washer. it was broken. when I asked the host, he referred me to a laundry service almost 30 minutes away. he offered to refund the expense. I asked about a refund twice and never got a a response.

Location was very close to most of main attractions in Edinburgh. Perfect size for 4 people including kitchen facility.

4th level apartment with no elevator. Microwave and washer are not working well. Carpet need to clean.
