Writers View, Royal Mile Apartment Edinburgh

The flat has a warm, cosy and snug feel. The location is fantastic if you love the old town; right by the Castle yet hidden away from the busy tourist streets so it's actually very quiet even during the Fringe which is nice. The decor is fine; it's used but not dirty/broken and comfortable for 3 people. The place was clean. All the basics are taken care of; coffee, tea, cutlery, soaps, plenty of towels. Instructions prior to arrival were very, very detailed which was helpful. All in all we had a pleasant stay, and I would definitely consider returning.

Only a few minor points of improvement, no dealbreakers in my view: The steps to the of the place was a little gloomy and had I been staying in the place alone I'm not sure if I'd feel very comfortable coming home later at night in the dark. The beds were a little hard for our liking, but I guess other people may like that. I have mixed feelings about picking the keys up / dropping them off; being able to do so whenever it suits you is convenient, but having to drag your stuff into the station and queue to do so is not so great. Maybe a coded pick-up box at the door would be better.

Brilliant location - just a step and onto the royal mile. 2 large bedrooms, decent kitchen with adjoining sitting room. Dishwasher and washing machine included as well.

Carpets could do with an update and shower was in the bath. But bathroom was clean and lots of hot water available.

The location was awesome. It was within walking distance to a lot of things. We loved being able to listen to the concerts in our room. I like the amount of space in the apartment. It was comfortable for 4 people.

The toilet was a pain to flush. The shower did not maintain a consistent temperature or have enough pressure. The location is very noises at nigh and early in the morning . Having a washer but no dryer is just silly. You shouldn’t be advertising a dryer (aka clothes rack). Having to go to a completely separate location to get a key is a Royal pain in tbe ass.

Great location, can't get much closer to the heart of the old town without staying in the actual castle. Roomy apartment with a nice kitchen and good views. VERY easy access to all Edinburgh sites and plenty of places to eat.

Area can be loud at night. Trash disposal is kind of a mess at the bottom of the stairs.

The apartment is very charming, although the bathroom could do with a table to put things on. Spacious and clean, friendly neighbours. Tescos and Sainsbury within walking distance. Nice place to retreat to from the hustle on the streets.

We would have appreciated a host to welcome us in person. We arrived with delay from the airport due to trouble with the tram and found the key pickup rather tiring after the journey.
