The Hazendal Hotel and Spa

The facilities for kids was amazing, but other facilities were still under renovation.

It is a bit of a distance from the airport but other than that I cannot complain.

The hotel should have been closed for such renovations they undertaking The price at almost R7000 a night with 80% of facilities closed was not worth it . The brkfst and dinner area is make shift for now and did not have great atmosphere Although they did inform you on via booking.com of limited facilities -The reality is when you see it and see what you paid for value it's not worth it .Even at R3500 per night its not worth it until everything is ready

Exceptional staff!

Rooms were very comfortable and nicely appointed. Restaurant and breakfast was very nice. Wine tasting was pleasant too. Lots of space for kids to run around.

When we arrived and went to the pool, nothing was set up and there was no background music etc, felt like we were not allowed to be there. I asked the waitress to put some music on and it already felt more welcoming. Somehow our pool bill got messed up and my husband went to reception to sort it out and they said not to worry. Then they came knocking on our room door (persistently) at 8pm when our child was trying to fall asleep and said my husband had to go sort the bill so there was just a lot of confusion and unnecessary back and fourth due to bad communication between the staff and management. I didn’t like the big electricity towers right there by the hotel, can’t be good for people to have that much electricity around?! Also wonderdal (the kids play area) was a great set up but the staff on duty were not very interactive with our son, the guy just stood at the door watching him, rather than playing with him… so he didn’t want to stay there after all. Nice that there was a free voucher included in the stay though. We were excited to try padel too as this was also included in the stay. When we called to book they said they were fully booked. However when we walked down to the courts there was no one there. We spoke to the staff at the padel courts and they said they had no bookings all morning. So that was quite annoying!

This property cannot be beaten when it comes to its amenities, service, staff and beautiful grounds. As a frequent traveller I can say this is one of the best properties I have stayed at. The staff’s attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile really make it feel like a home away from home. It’s amazing that they manage to provide the best service in all their offerings from food to the spa everything was excellent!

Beautiful hotel, modern, lovely gardens and great wines.

It is more expensive than certain wine estate but well worth it.
