The Rowanberry Suite at Rowan Cottage

We LOVED our stay here so much, our first time on the Isle of Skye and wow what a stay. The cottage was so beautiful, full of home comforts and personal touches from Ruth, the breakfast hamper was fantastic and the place was immaculate. Stunning views from the window, we were sat eating our tea a couple of the evenings at the table in the window and the deer came out! just gorgeous. We weren't so fussed about exploring the rest of the island, we had one day of visiting the Old Man of Storr and the Fairy Pools but the rest of the time we just wanted to explore the area around the cottage and we have completely fallen in love with it, we will be back! The seafood served from the little trailer in Elgol on a Saturday is the best seafood I've ever had, there's also an home made ice cream trailer next to this and the ice cream was amazing from there too! So many beautiful walks you can do right from the cottage, just the stay we needed to completely relax us. Highly recommend staying here. Thank you Ruth :)

On your journey in you feel like are driving to the ends of the earth but its worth it!!! Such a perfect, cosy little cottage - everything has been thought of! Including the spectacular views. Ideal for nature lovers in search of some peace & quiet - we saw porpoise & deer from the breakfast table and watched beautiful sunsets from the harbour

The bed was comfy. The host was helpful and friendly. Very helpful explaining where to get petrol and foods for stay on the way in.

The road to the property was a deathtrap. Didn't like driving it in the day let alone if it was dark. Not Ruth's fault. Although the TV/satellite TV didn't work so we had to borrow dvds. The kitchen was described as a kitchenette and the breakfast paid for is a basket of dried foods like porridge bread pancakes. Not the cooked breakfast I was hoping for. Lastly I wasn't happy to bang my head everytime I got out of bed, and I am only 5ft2. Waking in the night banging your head and then having to go down some spiral stairs to the bathroom. Not my best experience. The accommodation says it is 5km from the home to the attractions but this is as the crow flies not the road winds.

We loved the location, the comfort, the warmth, the facilities and The host. The suite is perfect to get away from it all and relax with terrific privacy. The host is a beautiful person who went above and beyond to provide us with every comfort we could need and truly spoiled us with a wonderful breakfast hamper also. Oh and the bed is super comfy! Being a 50-minute drive from the nearest major town was absolutely fantastic! Arriving in the dark, it was brilliant to be able to see the night sky clearly, and without any light pollution. The house was spotlessly clean, warm, and beautifully appointed, and the perfect location from which to explore the gem of the Inner Hebrides. Ruth was an extremely kind and gracious host, and took great care of me.

Almost nothing! I'm 6'3", so the only tiny gripe was that the shower ceiling was slightly low, but this was not insurmountable by any means.
