Mt Fuji Pilgrim's Inn fugaku x hitsuki

It felt a real privilege to stay in a home with such history - it being so traditional and unspoilt. It was also a privilege to share facilities closely with the lovely family. We learnt of the ancient pilgrims who would stay at the house to be blessed by the priestly owner before climbing Mount Fuji seeking to be ‘born again’ Fujiyoshida has nice shops, restaurants and is well supplied by train. You can get a good photograph of Mt Fuji from the viewing platform at the station.

Well, it was all part of the experience but in December we needed to wear socks in bed.

Very nice place with very nice owners. The house has a lot of history and is very nicely located. There are buses nearby and the FujiQ station is 15min by walk. The room is very nice and is equipped with AC (heat/cold) and a heater. I really recommend this place for a stay in fujiyoshida as it is the most authentic way to visit the area.

The owners explained the connection over generations to this wonderful house that they have restored. They also explained its cultural significance to several hundred years of pilgrims about to climb Mount Fuji. We arrived in the dark, when we went outside in the morning we were fairly over whelmed to see Mount Fuji, snow capped against a clear blue sky. An incredible experience.

There was nothing about our stay we didn't like.

Sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite und zuvorkommende Besitzer, wunderschönes gemütliches Haus mit toller Geschichte, welche uns die Besitzer erzählt haben. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, ein Highlight auf unserer Japanreise. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Kann kühl werden wenn man vergisst zu heizen am Abend ;)

Extremely friendly staff who spoke English and were so helpful with tips and travel plans. We enjoyed staying at this unique historic lodging experience and the beautiful setting below Mount Fuji!

We really enjoyed staying at this historical house! What we liked was the warm welcome by the hosts, along with a few-minute discussion about the history of Oshi houses near Mt. Fuji. We booked the attic room, which was spacious enough for two people. The room includes a table with 2 chairs, AC with heating, and another dedicated heater. I really liked how you can open the windows and the sunroof, which has a great view of Mt. Fuji during a clear sky. There are plenty of shower rooms and toilets that are shared, which are all clean and decent with heated seats, etc. In winter, it can be really cold in the shared spaces/alleys. For food, they have a cafe where you can order homemade food/drinks. One important thing to note is that there are no locks in the rooms. We didn't mind at all. Also, you will meet the hosts' children and a cute cat! Overall, we had a great time staying here, and I appreciate the carpentry of the house, which is really awesome.
