"Such a beautiful hotel, such a huge disappointment"

4.0

I want to start by saying this hotel is beautiful, has great design and style, and the staff tried their best and were very nice. This was, however, the most disappointing hotel experience I have ever had. We stayed two nights and had to move twice, for a total of three rooms in two days! In the first room, the TV didn't work and there is a barn door on the bathroom - it's awful, zero privacy if you are rooming with anyone else. To remedy the broken tv, they moved us to a gorgeous new room where the heat didn't work and which was right under the restaurant in the former church above - it was like elephants overhead, pacing back and forth. Half the blinds on the ground floor windows didn't work. We moved again and in our final room, the tv's speakers were blown and we were back to a bathroom with a barn door. But at least there was some heat - we still needed two space heaters. This hotel has only been open for one month - how are two out of three tvs broken? How is the solution to poor heating multiple space heaters? (We had three space heaters going in room #2 and two in room #3.) I wanted to love this hotel but it was an awful experience. I will say again that the staff was great, but were doomed to failure by a hotel that is not ready to be open. As an aside, the restaurant is FANTASTIC. We said that next time we'll stay at a B&B nearby but will definitely return to the restaurant and bar.

Great property. Charged us twice for some reason, but we are getting our money refunded and I’m sure they will work out that glitch so it doesn’t happen in the future.

"New Hotel in Downtown Frederick- Historic Vibes and Close to Everything"

8.0

I really liked the hotel location, it's in the heart of downtown Frederick and very walkable to the restaurants, shops and bars. We were celebrating my husbands bday and we rented the presidential suite (extended) and it was very nice. The bathroom was very large and the shower is nice. There is a really cool restaurant in the hotel, which we didn't visit by walked by and the menu looks good. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are a great size. I would stay here again when I visit Frederick in the future.

The receptionist at check in was not welcoming or friendly. The check in was an underwhelming experience. The hotel opened on a Thursday and we stayed at the hotel on the Saturday of opening weekend. When we checked in there was another family in front of us so they asked us to take a seat, which we didn't have any issues with. As we sat there, two other families walked in and they were promptly greeted with champagne and were told that there rooms would be ready shortly. After waiting for 10 mins in the lobby, I walk up to the reception desk and asked for the status of our room for check in (it was 5pm and check in is at 4pm). The receptionist had a rude tone and said, 'you'll need to wait because there are other people waiting ahead of you'. I then informed her that we were waiting before the last two couples to walked in and would like to know the status of our check in. She then said, 'oh, what's your name'. I then gave her my name and the room was ready. Ultimately, the hotel wasn't properly staffed for an opening weekend and the evening shift receptionist is terrible and needs training on basic customer service.
