Hotel City Express Udaipur - My Downtown Hotels

"उँची दुकान फीका पकवान" A fake 4star hotel. It is nothing less than an 'highly over priced Lodge'. The ONLY good thing about the place is the hotel staff that helps to hide all its imperfections... I booked this hotel from booking.com - 1 family room and 1 executive room for 3 days. To begin with; the hotel is newly renovated hence the look is good BUT ONLY INSIDE. That's why you will not find any images of the exterior of the hotel as IT HAS NO EXTERIOR. • We reached the hotel at 9:30 PM but I called the given number 070234 84239 on my way BUT NOONE RESPONDED. I got a text saying... whatsapp on the given no. I have attached my chat for proof - the no. said that the restaurant is open 24 hours but as we reached, we were told that the kitchen is shut at 11 PM. • We came via 2 cars but there was NO PARKING SPACE around the hotel and the location is just opposite Central Bus Stop and behind is a taxi stand so you never find space for your car ever! • The manager insisted that we pay all the amount in advance (TOTAL 32000 for 2 rooms) - half was already paid so we had to pay half even before our rooms were shown to us. This amount DOES NOT INCLUDE BREAKFAST even! • The next day we got up and found out that there was NO HOT WATER in both bathrooms. Calling upon the manager we were told that it will take 10-15 minutes to repair so we waited, but after 1 and a half hour we were given buckets of hot water to take a bath after 2 hours of waiting for hot water. After complaining to the manager, he assured us that he will get it repaired. The same was repeated on the second day. Later, we came to know that the boiler gets finished by 9 am. On the day of check out we got up @ 6 am and that was the only day we got hot water. • We cleared the bills a night before as we had to leave early BUT the man at reception gave us BILLS ON A YELLOW PAPER and charged us with GST too! The name on the bill is also of a lodge.

The hotel should not rate itself as 4 star and charge so much! The facilities shall be upto the mark atleast. After all this I expected the manager to be apologetic and demand a refund but I was told upfront that as the hotel was booked via some other website he cannot help me with anything. Hence, I request booking.com to look into the matter and remove this over priced lodge from its list.

The corridors look good. The rooms are normal. Low cost food.

Service was bad. It did not even look like what is shown in photos. Rooms are small. Toilet smelled bad. Drainage block in bathroom. Unjustifiable room rents during season.
