Sea Sand Resort

Very well maintained, Avi and Sabina own and run Sea Sand Resort with care and affection. Good quality mattress aids a good sleep. It has Aircon but didn't need at night, but day may be required. Fantastic pack of friendly dogs who welcome you in and keep the strays away They serve the best coffee for miles. If it's a beach you are after SSR is a walk away but most people come for Kite surfing which either happens about 2 km down the coast or about 3 km away on the Lagoon.

I feel the bathrooms could be upgraded to be enclosed as mosquitoes come in through the open gaps. After the top quality of the bedroom it's a bit of a let down. Also no hot water geezer, not sure why as the electricity supply is good. Because the whole resort is located in sand they could get house keeping to do a daily sweep.

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and a special shoutout to Avi, who went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. He provided us with fantastic recommendations for our onward travels, which made our journey even smoother. The cabanas were stunning—beautifully designed, spotless, and comfortable. It was the perfect blend of nature and relaxation. We also loved the convenience of being able to hire a motorbike on-site, making it super easy to explore the area. The location is ideal, close to both kitesurfing spots, yet peaceful and serene. The food was absolutely delicious—every meal was a treat! And the friendly animals roaming around added such a unique and charming touch to the whole experience. The resort truly captures the essence of an authentic Sri Lankan escape, offering an “off-the-grid” vibe while still providing all the comforts you need. Everything about our stay was superb, and we can’t wait to come back. If you’re looking for a little paradise in Kalpitiya, this is it!

My bungalow was spotless and very comfortable. The aircon and WiFi were great. The food in the restaurant was really good and all cooked fresh to order. The hosts were also very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay in Kalpitiya!

Very nice private area with only 8 cabanas. Friendly hosts. We only tried the breakfast which was awesome. 5 minutes walk to the beach

The Cabana was great and suited us for our one night stay. The environment was just calm and peaceful and a very short walk from the beach. The hosts were lovely and very accommodating of our needs, making us a delicious omlette for breakfast to our taste.

The drainage in Cabana 10 was poor. When having a shower, the waste water was flowing away from the drain as the natural slope of the floor was inclined incorrectly. This meant that each time we had a shower, we had to physically scrape/scoop the water into the drain. Despite this, we really did enjoy our stay.

Def recommend!! The rooms are simple and confortable - great value for money. The food is amazing, prob the best place in the area to eat. Def check out the restaurant even if you’re not sleeping here. Also short walk to the kite beach. The owners are amazing and they really make you feel at home. Thank you Sabina and Avi!!

Nothing to add here. Just make sure you have some mobile data in case you need to rely on WiFi heavily for zoom calls. For me it WiFi was good most of the time though
