Squirrel's Nest

The host was incredibly friendly and helpful. Truly exceptional. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden with lots of birds and squirrels. Breakfast includes smoothies and pancakes.

The location a bit hard to get

Amazing Sri Lankan breakfast!

This was one of my favourite places I stayed in Sri Lanka. The property is tucked away a little walk out of town, but is worth it for the beautiful views and peaceful location. The room was spacious and clean, with a large terrace outside. The hospitality here was exceptional - after a bit of a tricky start (there was a problem with Booking.com so the room was doublebooked - through no fault of the hosts), the hosts and their son very kindly found multiple options to resolve the problem and also gave me a discounted price for my stay. They allowed me to store my luggage for a few hours after checkout while I explored the town, and greeted me with a refreshing coconut and some icecream on my return.

Sometimes it was difficult to get a response from the hosts via whatsapp, though their son (who lives abroad) was very responsive and helpful when I needed a prompt reply. One of the blinds in the room was broken, so it did not close sufficiently to keep the light out in the morning. This didn't really bother me as it was nice to wake up to the natural light, especially with such a beautiful view outside!

Tuk Tuk drivers had a hard time finding it BUT host carefully gave instructions by a cell phone call 👍🏽Property needs to give guests a map and printed directions in Singhalese or something like that.
