Castas do Douro

I don't think there are enough words to describe the beauty of the area and of the house that we were in! As a family trip, celebrating my husband's 60th b-day, it was ideal. We rented both units and we felt we were in heaven. The stone on the house, the renovation inside, the VIEW!!! we could have easily spent our days just there, on the terrace, with the wonders around us. The house was well equipped with everything, the host very responsive and we were sorry to leave. There is nothing to complain of, which (for me) is really something special ;-). You will not regret booking this place! I am sure we'll be back, maybe when the wines turn yellow - the views must be spectacular!

Stunning villa overlooking the magnificent Douro Valley located in a traditional little Portuguese village. We loved our stay here and were lucky enough to be able to extend for an extra night! Lovely walks to do in the area - we even walked 5kms downhill to Quinta do Tedo for lunch (caught a taxi back). The villa had everything we needed to self cater for breakfasts and dinners and was comfortable in every way. Highly recommended for your stay in this special region!

While there is a large and secure parking area on the property - it is difficult to get in/out of it due to the narrow & winding approach. I suggest parking your car in the little square with the statue instead to save stress! Apart from this minor issue there was nothing we didn’t like about the property 🙂

Everything was clean and the house is very cosy. It’s located in a very calm village where you could listen only the birds during the mornings. It was amazing for relaxing! The parking lot isn’t easily accessible however there is enough space to park near the house. Only a suggestion to the owner that it would be easy to identify the house if there is any sign with the name of the house turned to the main street.

There is no breakfast included during your stay therefore it is best advised to bring snacks, drinks, and groceries if you prefer to cook and not go out every time you want to eat. The host did provide a couple of bottles of wine complimentary with the stay.

Getting to the house in your car requires phenomenal driving skills and a car that is high enough to avoid scrapes. I parked the car upon arrival at the property but chose to park in the village parking to avoid testing my driving skills every time I took the car out. However, I must say that the parking at the property can easily accommodate 3-4 compact cars.
