I had many problems with the properties cleanliness and maintenance and informed the host, providing photographs of my observations. In order of my arrival, my problems were: 1- no parking at the property, you can attempt to park in the hotel car park across the road. 2- arrived to previous guests dog waste bags and broken flower pots around hot tub area. 3- dirty toilet brush with waste and tissue paper on in bathroom. 4- used soap block in shower. 5- rusted and unclean surface in bathroom 6- spilt food in oven 7- spilt smelly liquid at bottom of fridge 8- damaged kitchen cupboards 9- thick layer of dust on TV & surfaces 10- broken roller blind with no blind and dangling string 11- dining table not as photographed by a window, shoved under eaves of a low roof 12- thick layers or dirt and crumbs under sofas and beds 13- broken kettle 14- dog hair and human hairs in bed 15- dirty, musty smell to lodge. 16- contacted host to raise my findings, not currently not had a reply 4 weeks later

Clean, comfortable and in a good location, with plenty of places to eat in walking distance. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Thanks, Rob.

The location was great and the cottage is very cosy. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and the enclosed garden meant we could bring our dog without worrying about letting him outside.

No onsite parking. You can park across in the Buchanan Arms car park across the road. It makes bringing your belongings in a bit of a hassle but didn’t ruin our stay!

Host keeps having my review removed but all of my comments are factual and have photographs for evidence

My first comment is please look at the photos I have attached to this review and make your own mind up. There is no parking, if you are driving this is a problem, the host will tell you to park in the local hotel car park 300m away, depending on the time you arrive getting a parking spot can be difficult. Outside around the hot tub it is not clean or safe, there are used dog waste bags and broken flower pots (see photos) we didn’t use the hot tub after seeing the cleanliness standard inside the annex. Please see photos of dirty oven, previous guests spilt food inside. Fridge had leaked fluid in the bottom, previous guests used soap block in the shower, disgusting toilet brush, both human and pet hair in bed. Underneath the beds and sofa are thick with dirt and crumbs (see photos) General condition very poor, broken blinds, broken kettle, kitchen door badly damaged (see photos) Unfortunately I didn’t raise this whilst staying as whilst settling my son the host was knocking loudly on the door at 7:45 pm, I didn’t want to get into a confrontation as our cleanliness standards were clearly miles apart, I simply just informed him we wouldn’t be using the hot tub and went back to my son. On my return I reached out to the host and asked if I could have his email to send him some photos and information, because I didn’t want to leave a review and upset him if there was a genuine reason. He didn’t respond. I had hoped he would have been as surprised as I was and offer an apology and reason, such as he had no idea and would speak to the cleaning company or perhaps he or his partner were seriously ill and standards had slipped. As I got no reply I assume, he’s happy about the level of cleanliness and maintenance and so I have no other option than to let future customers aware of my experience so they can have a full picture. I did have an early check in of 3pm but the cleaning wasn’t just a missed clean for me arriving early, it was months of dirt.

Nothing

There is no parking, you can’t park on the road. Host will tell you, you can park in the pub car park 300m away if there is a space. Property poorly maintained, outside area around the hot tub was dirty, unclean, previous guests dog waste bags, broken flower pots and dangerous for children. Hot tub overlooked by 2 windows from the host property. It is basically a converted garage with an apex roof. If you are over 5’4” you will bang your head constantly. The dining table is under the eaves as is the sofa, making sitting down and standing up difficult. They clearly don’t put any money back into the property, poorly maintained and unclean. Interior a shambles, dirty toilet brush, previous guests used soap block in shower. Dirty oven with spilt food, spilt liquid in fridge. Broken kettle, blinds and cupboard door. Overall a really poor experience. Host might say we had early check in at 3 so it hadn’t been cleaned but the dirt in the property was from months if not years of lack of cleaning, not just one missed clean.

The hosts were friendly and helpful. The place was clean, functional and comfortable.
