Blue Moon Lodge

Our room was right on the highway with heavy trucks roaring past - very noisy so didn’t sleep well. Tired property more like a hostel - quality didn’t match the price. As a hostel totally fine - kitchen etc.

The view from the balcony was lovely.

No-one to greet us when we arrived - a staff member did show up a few minutes later after we phoned them and that was the last we saw or heard from anyone throughout our stay. Bathroom door didn't latch. Bathroom fittings dated so didn't appear clean. Hand basin is very high for short people and children. Shower went cold (both days) for the second person showering despite the first person taking a short shower. Decor very dated and felt unclean. Bed head had dust on it - and had to put a pillow behind it to stop it creaking every time someone moved in the bed. Mattress was comfortable though.

Clean, handy to highway, close to dining. Well appointed lounge and kitchen.

Not the fault of the hostel: most of the shops and even the Four Square closed at 5 on Friday. Small town, but we were fine, as a place just down the street was open.

The location and the amenities were very nice. I didn’t realize it was a shared bathroom but was all good.

The bed was a little saggy but had a great sleep and it was good value.

Good location. Peaceful. Comfortable room and good showers.
