I was given an up-graded room ( the Gecko Room)which was fine for my needs because I was transmitting between Takaka and the Picton ferry , and a booking problem ( I needed 2 nights not just 1 night) was sorted through patiently .

Very small room, noisy wall heater you need to pre-heat the room before sleeping. Noisy, especially from those adventure tourist stomping around at 5 o'clock discussing which walk to do. Nature has been around for a billion years, its not gonna go anywhere.
