"Quirky. A never to be repeated experience."

Jesse as host was exceptional; friendly and welcoming and v good at explaining that the holiday business and this time of year( Christmas/New Year) is what keeps the farm going. It was also extraordinary to be so close to Rhino and Eland and to watch them eating the food that is put out for them. Given we are at least 40kms in any direction from the main road, and over 100kms from any supermarket, it is testament to the ingenuity and perseverance of Jesse and her family that the bar is reasonably well stocked and that food is being served.

Bedrooms; no air conditioning ( it had not yet been installed - the units were there but with no motor). Sqeaky, old, uncomfortable beds. No water in the room to brush teeth; We had to pay separately for this. Then there was no key for my son’s room- Jesse didn’t know this until I asked for it. So we got a sign to jam under the door and told this was a safe area ( no consideration that the place was full with other guests). Loads of yelling, squealing children up at the crack of dawn and given the lack of soundproofing this also meant we were up very early. WiFi is only available in the reception/ lounge area. The food was truly dreadful. Pies were served lukewarm in the foil they had been heated up in, the accompanying chips were scant and the salad limp. I wasn’t served my choice of pie although at least mine didn’t come in its foil container. Breakfast was average at best, acknowledging that we’re over 100kms from a supermarket. You pay for every morsel or drink or toiletry. Nothing is complimentary. The Photos on booking.com lend themselves to being more idealistic than the reality.
